'Great Britain's Davis Cup World Group tie with the United States will be played in San Diego on a clay court.

Petco Park - the home of baseball's San Diego Padres - has been selected to host the tie which takes place between 31 January and 2 February 2014.

It is the first Davis Cup tie in an open-air US baseball stadium, and the first US home tie on clay since 1992.

I was just remembering nearly 50 years ago I used a Wilson “Davis Cup” racket when I was first learning to play tennis. It was not even my own racket.

My next one was a Maureen Connolly women’s racket. It just seemed to fit.

Same here. Kept it in a wooden press to keep it from warping.
Then got a Wilson T-2000 steel raquet. Really state-of-the-art
in 1971, at least for me.

Yes, I bought a Jack Kramer just because all the good players had one. I also had one of the steel rackets but neither one seemed to fit me.

The first one I had which felt really well in my hands was a Yonex. I can’t remember the model. Then a whole series of of the oversize ones made from exotic materials. Some really good players kept using the old Jack Kramer but the oversize really helped me.
