Unnnngh! Not a Morgan!

A friend of my late brother’s had a problem with her lower back, and she would occasionally trade cars with him when she couldn’t drive her Morgan because of its stiff suspension.

She drove his cream-puff blue convertible. I suspected that her back went out less often than she claimed. She really liked that convertible.

When you look at the increase in prices & wages due to inflation you really begin to understand how much it defeats savings and “planning ahead”.

When I was 21 a newly graduated engineer was making about $10,000 a year. If I had planned to have that same purchasing power now in my retirement at age 66, I would need an income of $66,280. in 1968, few would have believed that much more would be needed by 2013. This is nothing less than governmental theft and/or gross incompetence. A stable currency is necessary for long term, accurate and wise financial planning. Otherwise, speculative investments begin to look attractive.

The crowd that says “Oh, the 17 trillion national debt doesn’t matter!” are hoping & planning to let inflation make that a manageable number. Or else they really don’t give a hoot.

“Where the HELL could I drive either car the way they deserve to be driven?”

There are numerous road circuits in the US where you could drive one of these cars as it was meant to be driven during an open-lapping day. If I could afford an R8 or a Gallardo (though I’d much rather have a 458 Italia), I could probably come up with enough scratch to take it to a track now and then.

I don’t know of anyone racing a Gallardo, but the R8 is classified for competition in FIA GT3, Pirelli World Challenge and USCC.

Man...my wife and I saw a 50 something year old well heeled lady driving a McLaren here in Franklin a few weeks ago...wifey looked it up while I drove...1.2M...like you said...i wouldn’t drive in traffic

I worked in Hatton Garden many years ago in London and I swear a diamond broker used to park his 1937 Talbot Lago Grand Sport right on the street in front of his office...dark green...a real beauty

It was almost his daily driver

We were in Dallas recently during Red River Rivalry (rainy) weekend

not shortage fancy cars there from downtown north along McKinney or Preston

that is BS and you know it

I guess a Porsche Turbo S or Audi R series is a Volkswagen

but at least they are the same company sort of

Ferraris are tempestuous...like a hot female....lots of loving care needed but the ride is worth it

You want a cool car that is dependable..and cheaper buy a Porsche ..or a Vette

I drive a paid for 199 Porsche 996 cabby

and it will do 180 ...well 179 to be exact

I agree with Liberty though...the new ones are too Bertone looking

I guess we always find the money for things we REALLY want to do.
