They call them "comic books" but some of the artists' work should be represented in American museums. The entire American illustrator movement of the mid-century has been neglected in favor of "anti-art". These artists were "too commercial" but the modern artists were more profitable.

I actually have a piece of original art done by Cardy. A cover to a DC horror comic, which I bought way back in the late-1970’s for about ten bucks.
I didn’t care much for “Teen Titans.” But Cardy was a good artist. Some of his art in the early issues of “Bat Lash” are absolutely beautiful.

Cardy might have had the consistently best covers of 1960s comics — Teen Titans & Aquaman, in particular.
