Planned Parenthood Abandons TX Poor Women
National Review ^ | Wesley J. Smith

Remember when several states sought to defund Planned Parenthood because they didn’t want public money to go to an abortion provider? Oh, the screaming! These laws were so uncompassionate, PP’s defenders screamed, denying poor women basic health care!

Yet, when Texas law required that abortionists have admitting privileges within 30 miles of an abortion clinic–which would not in any way prevent the clinics from providing poor women ”basic health care”– 12 Planned Parenthood clinics closed. From the CBS DFW story:

Planned Parenthood will close a dozen clinics on Friday after a federal appeals court reinstated most of the state’s controversial new abortion law. The ruling from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals late Thursday means that many abortion clinics across the state of Texas are required to stop providing the procedure immediately.

If abortion was really only 3% of PP–as the organization claims–would a safety restriction of this kind really force twelve PP clinics to close?

Indeed, the question must now be asked: Where is PP’s compassion? Don’t Texas poor women still need basic Ob/gyn care? Don’t they still need access to cheap birth control? Don’t they still need breast exams? Etc. Etc. Etc.?

What is that old saying? Money talks? Killing fetuses is Planned Parenthood’s real raison d’ etre. The other stuff is clearly just veneer.

I hear that a majority of the income of PP is tax dollars.

Abortions are where the money is, the rest is just for show.

Another part of this equation is that abortion doctors tend to be the dregs of the medical profession. They often get into the abortion circuit because they cannot successfully practice in any other medical venue. They tend to be the least competent of doctors and would not be given admitting privileges to many hospitals for insurance purposes alone. Abortion doctors also have the highest rates of suicides, alcoholism, and drug abuse. Most medical doctors will have nothing to do with them.

OB/GYNs are in the profession of bringing babies safely into this world. How can someone, who is so focused on a woman and her baby’s health and prenatal care, stomach the ideas of abortion? It is almost impossible for anyone so focused nurturing life to flip the intellectual and emotional switch to “kill.” It takes a really “cold fish” of a person to be able to callously destroy an otherwise healthy fetus. Such cold fish do not make good doctors — at least not ones most people would want to be treated by.
