Did a hungover Secret Service agent accidentally shoot JFK?
The Globe and Mail ^ | Nov. 02 2013 | JOHN DOYLE

Posted on 11/03/2013 8:58:27 AM PST by rickmichaels

And so it begins – the plentiful coverage of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of U.S. president John F. Kennedy. The date itself is weeks away and there will be countless commemorative programs, specials and copious punditry on TV.

JFK: The Smoking Gun (Sunday, Discovery, 8 p.m.) is one of the most controversial of the bunch. Made for the tiny U.S. cable channel Reelz, it’s a two-hour docudrama based on the book of the same name by former Australian police detective Colin McLaren. He claims to have spent years on “the forensic cold-case investigation of JFK’s assassination” and says he believes he has found “the smoking gun” that killed the president. His conclusion is not the accepted story.

.... so I wonder if Nixon didn’t want the investigation to bring up OTHER things.

Very good. I like the way you think.

I heard Hunts son on the radio a year or so ago and he had a lot to say. Unfortunately, I’ve forgotten most of it.

Or bring up the whole “Bay of Pigs” thing:

“**********

Nixon: When you get in these people when you…get these people in, say: “Look, the problem is that this will open the whole, the whole Bay of Pigs thing, and the President just feels that” ah, without going into the details… don’t, don’t lie to them to the extent to say there is no involvement, but just say this is sort of a comedy of errors, bizarre, without getting into it, “the President believes that it is going to open the whole Bay of Pigs thing up again. And, ah because these people are plugging for, for keeps and that they should call the FBI in and say that we wish for the country, don’t go any further into this case”, period!”

I found the show compelling. I've read the book Mortal Error so the storyline was familiar to me. I think most of all I like the fact that it's not just another conspiracy theory that blames somebody other than Oswald. It was just a freak accident. The new part for me was the way the Secret Service, Arlen Specter and the Warren Commission were working together to ignore the AR-15.

The problem with Conspiracists is they can cite the CIA, FBI, Cubans, Mafia or whomever.

But where did that shot come from?? There is nothing to say it came from the Grassy Knoll or anywhere else on the ground if there is a conspiracy. No smoking gun there unless maybe it was a Secret Service Rifle.

please don’t believe this bunk ...in the lawsuit against the book author and publisher it was proven by the Bronson film that Hickey didn’t shoot JFK or even have his gun up ...below is a little bit from the court documents... the publisher settled with Hickey before the case ever went to trial because they knew it was bogus BS and have only drug this back up because Hickey is dead and can’t sue their lying slandering asses again

“13. Upon information and belief, in or about April, 1992, Thomas
McCormack (”McCormack”), the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and
Division Editorial Director of St. Martins and SMP, was telephonically
contacted by Gary Mack (”Mack”), an archivist for the Sixth Floor
in Dallas, Texas, who notified him of the existence of a film taken of
assassination by Charles Bronson. The “Bronson film”, the prior
of which was known to Donahue, contains images of the assassination,
including the head shot of President Kennedy and Hickey’s movements
time. St. Martins and SMP were specifically informed by Mack that the
film absolutely disproves Donahue’s theory.”

That’s pretty interesting.

Nixon was constantly mulling everything over. He was usually one step ahead of his enemies.

Watched a few minutes of the C-Span2 “In Depth” interview with Kitty Kelley of unauthorized biography fame this afternoon - started laughing so violently I had to tune out quickly when the host requested her response to a viewer email asking if she had found any evidence that George Bush was actually in Dealey Plaza the day Kennedy was shot - life must be pure chaos for some people.....

A crazy guy will do anything. But a mafioso going in to kill Oswald could only be to shut him up.

I am not saying ignore evidence or facts, I am saying most of the evidence has been altered, destroyed, overlooked or not reported on. That is why for every CE (Commission Exhibit) there is controversy. The forensics are questionable and eyewitness (medical and layman) testimonies are controversial and contradictory. That is why I say look at Oswald, look at Ruby, look Dallas Prosecutor H. Wade and a host of other shady persons. I am not saying let's rely on intuition.

Anyone that has stood in that window in Dallas knows he easily could have done it.

Don't know about conspiracy theories, but you are right - my Grandmother coulda taken the shot.

I've been up to the window - but, go to the street at the point where the brass marker [in the street] denotes the spot of the fatal shot. Then look back up to the 5th floor window. It ain't that far at all and you could wedge the gun in the window frame to steady the shot ...

I love getting into this sort of thing. Although after watching many of the videos I end up like “Gilligan” on the island where the professor is trying to solve a mystery, and after each bit of evidence pointing to someone else, Gilligan shouts out “He did it! He did it!”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEq63vTOwcI

The above interview is of railroad workers and others that heard shots and saw puffs of smoke from the fence/grassy knoll area. One of them was misrepresented by the Warren Commission. Others were never asked by the commission about their witness statements to the police/FBI.

Watching another film though shows police and people running towards the fence and knoll area after the shooting. Police I can understand, but why would the public run TOWARDS where shots had just been fired from? Unless those folks were more concerned with shots from the building?

****************************

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSXQYvm57YM

The above is an interview with a former FBI guy that thinks a KKK, anti-gov guy was behind it. A guy by the name of Joseph Adams Milteer. Milteer (from Georgia) had made threats on JFK, said how it would be done, was in the crowd in Dallas (in a photo), and later told others how “we got him”, and said how Oswald knew nothing about it.

Who knows. I had never heard anything about this Milteer guy. I might need to follow whatever crazy trail the interwebs lead! I suppose there might be a pyschologic thing going on in folks that were there or involved somehow. And whatever they witnessed, or however they were connected to the event, makes their version of things the “right one”.

I wonder if there is a psychological reason for people to try to come up with conspiracies and stuff for things too. Perhaps to make some of the bad stuff that happens seem to be rare and more complicated as a defense mechanism to somehow drive away some of the fear?

If I thought too much how easy it would be for some lone gunman to shoot me in the head I might never go outside. Or how easy it is (was?) to hijack an airplane I might never go in a tall building.

A crazy guy will do anything.

What are the chances that both Oswald and Ruby were crazy? Looking at their backgrounds I'd say there was better than a 50-50 chance.

Post 121: http://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3087044/posts?q=1&;page=101

“According to my friend, Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock, the former senior instructor for the U.S. Marine Corps Sniper Instructor School at Quantico, Virginia, it could not be done as described by the FBI investigators. Gunny Hatchcock, now retired, is the most famous American military sniper in history. In Vietnam he was credited with 93 confirmed kills—and a total of over 300 actual kills counting those unconfirmed. He now conducts police SWAT team sniper schools across the country. When I called him to ask if he had seen the Zapruder film, he chuckled and cut me off. “Let me tell you what we did at Quantico,” he began. “We reconstructed the whole thing: the angle, the range, the moving target, the time limit, the obstacles, everything. I don’t know how many times we tried it, but we couldn’t duplicate what the Warren Commission said Oswald did. Now if I can’t do it, how in the world could a guy who was a non-qual on the rifle range and later only qualified ‘marksman’ do it?””

It seems the case you cite was never decided in a Court of Law though:

The below refers to the publisher, St. Martin’s Press:

“David N. Kaye, chief attorney for St. Martin’s, said yesterday that the book “never said Mr. Hickey did anything wrong” and instead portrayed his role in “a tragic accident.”

The decision to settle the case was made because “lawyers are expensive and we have no quarrel with Mr. Hickey,” Kaye said.

John Sargent, chief executive officer of St. Martin’s Press, recently sent a letter to Hickey saying the book “was in no way meant as a criticism of you. We know of no information that denigrates your dedication to the Secret Service, President John F. Kennedy or this country.”

“He was probably able to blend in the crowd quite easily. He wasn’t covered in blood or anything.”

That’s true.

OK, so you got to the window Oswald used. I didn’t but I have stood at the window next to it many a time. Oswald did not have to lean out to shoot. So you can apologize to me anytime.

the publisher can say they settled for whatever reason they want ....it’s widely know in assassination research circles that the Bronson film shows that Hickey didn’t have the rifle when JFK’s head exploded ...it’s a visually provable fact that this theory is just pure bunk

REELZ knew they could get away with throwing this outrageous nonsense together and then profit from it ..... bring in a guy with a nice accent to try to sell it, just like they do in infomercials, tell half truths, then blame a guy that is dead so you can’t be sued ....bunch of real scumbags
