"Led Zeppelin II is the second studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released in October 1969 on Atlantic Records. Recording sessions for the album took place at several locations in the United Kingdom and North America from January to August 1969. Production was credited to lead guitarist and songwriter Jimmy Page, while it also served as Led Zeppelin's first album to utilise the recording techniques of engineer Eddie Kramer. With elements of blues and folk music, Led Zeppelin II also exhibits the band's evolving musical style of blues-derived material and their guitar and riff-based sound. It has been described as the band's heaviest album." [wiki]

Thank You is the song that my bride of 26 years walked down the aisle to, and to this day, she to me is the only one!

It has been described as the band's heaviest album.

It's an important album bit I would say III and what is commonly known as IV are equeally as heavy but Physical Graffiti is the heaviest IMHO.

The picture that was the inspiration for the album cover.

"The album sleeve design was from a poster by David Juniper, who was simply told by the band to come up with an idea that was "interesting". His design was based on a photograph of the Jagdstaffel 11 Division of the German Air Force during WWI, the famed Flying Circus led by Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron.[5] After the picture was tinted, the faces of the four members of the band were airbrushed on from a 1969 publicity photograph. Other faces added, according to Juniper, were either Miles Davis or Blind Willie Johnson, a friend of Andy Warhol (possibly Mary Woronov) and astronaut Neil Armstrong.[17] The cover also pictured the outline of a Zeppelin on a brown background, which gave the album its nickname "Brown Bomber".[5]"

there was nothing “heavy” about Led Zeppelin....hard rock?? yes...but songs such as Thank You, Ramble On, The Lemon Song and even What Is and What Should Never Be, would never be classified as heavy metal...

the mighty Led Zeppelin were to talented and too diverse to be pigeon holed into a single classification of music..

Was the term “Heavy Metal” even used back then?

Stupid, undisciplined penalties killed them. That’s what happens when you have a bad head coach.

Best 2 songs in the movie. I like Don Felder's better than Sammy Hagar.

Physical Graffiti, imo, is the greatest album ever produced by a rock and roll band- bar none...

people talk about the Beetles, St Peppers or Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon, or the Stones Exile on Main Street but the fact remains those bands could never replicate those albums on stage without assistance from additional musicians (St Peppers/Exile on Main Street) or a lot of pre-recorded tape (Dark Side of the Moon)...

listen to the studio version of Physical Graffiti then listen to bootlegs of the mighty Led Zeppelin doing those songs live....better yet just listen to the O2 version of Kashmir from 2007:

No one ever mentions “Presence”. But to me it’s the hardest Zep album of all.

I like to imagine Ethel Merman covering “Whole Lotta Love” ...

yes- but that was on Houses of the Holy- not Zeppelin II....

75% of Zeppelin III is acoustic- far from heavy metal...
