Authorities issued a warning
A Saudi man fancying grills for dinner went into a famous restaurant in the Gulf kingdom and bought a meal before rushing home to enjoy the food.
But his excitement turned into a shock then to fury when he spotted a large dead cockroach in the meat just before he put a piece into his mouth. Omar Al Harthi said he rushed back to the restaurant in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah and began shouting as they lined up the in front of him to apologize.
I did not accept their apology because this has to do with human health
I quickly phoned health authorities who sent an inspector and gave the restaurant a notice, Al Harthi told the Arabic language daily Sabq. I had expected the authorities to immediately shut down the restaurant but they only gave it a warning.
The roach looks good compared to whatever that other “food” is!
I wonder if it’s dog. Maybe someone should call Øbongo in to confirm.
Bugs are very high in protein...
“Slimy, yet satisfying.”
Depending on the sauce, looks like a damn good roach to me.
Then again, I spent WAY too much time in Asia.
Contrair Peaire!
Barbequed roaches are quite crunchy! And not bad eating too!
I especially like the really big flying ones on Guam. About the size of a small crawfish.
As I posted earlier, it all depends on the sauce.
Nothing on that plate is appealing.
LOL! Reminds me of 1959 when dad took us all out to eat at THE AMERICAN CAFE in Roswell NM!
We knew something was wrong when the hamburgers came with a rotten tomato on them and my sister would not eat the burger.
Then dad got his chicken fried steak and it was GOOD, till he saw the cooked bug in it.
Not wanting to make a scene, we immediately got up and left, dad paid and tried to keep from throwing up in the teller’s face.
Once outside, he let go and puked his guts out for a block (he had a very weak stomach). Everyone around thought he was just drunk, but this is one time he puked when he wasn’t drunk.
I hated to go to certain cafes back then as so many of them were nasty.
That food looks like it has already been eaten....oh, and there’s a dead cockroach in there too.
I ate a bowl of grasshopers in Mexico. A staple food for Oaxaca region.
nice, lemony and washed down with three servings of Johnnie Walker Black...
true story.
I know some people in my family who would suffer a nervous breakdown or a violent rage if they were ‘surprise showered’ with roaches. Horrible, but still hilarious.
