Just before Halloween, police were alerted to a potential vampire in Sumter.
A woman reported to law enforcement that her ex-boyfriend attacked her by biting her on the neck.
About 9 p.m. Monday, the 26-year-old woman was at a video store on Liberty Street when the 29-year-old man got into the passenger's seat of her car and asked for a ride home.
The woman drove to the 100 block of Carolina Avenue when her passenger reportedly told her to stop the car. She came to a halt in the middle of the road, and the man reportedly pinned her to the seat and sank his teeth into the right side of her neck and shoulder.
The police report notes that the attacker did not break through his victim's skin.
Apparently not satisfied with biting the woman, the man also reportedly put his hands around her neck and choked her while shouting obscenities. The attack reportedly stopped when a man passing by approached the car sitting in the roadway.
The woman reported the attack to the Sumter Police Department the next day, but as of Halloween night, no charges had been filed. In the meantime, residents may want to invest in garlic.
Time to secede from that relationship.
