‘Tears in Their Eyes’: Airplane Passengers Humbled to Learn They Helped Escort a Fallen Soldier Home

Uniformed soldiers traveling on commercial flights with civilians isn’t an unusual sight for passengers jetting around the U.S. and the world.

And while a recent Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles indeed included military personnel, news about one particular passenger turned this airplane ride into something quite extraordinary.

The Delta captain spoke on the public address system about 45 minutes prior to landing to say the plane was transporting a fallen soldier.

Hopefully the majority of the passengers felt honored to have been on the same flight. Sadly, I'm sure there were a couple of folks who were upset by being delayed by "all this for some dead soldier." A pox on them if there were any. Thank you fallen comrade for your honor, courage and committment.

I’ve been on a flight like that. He had 2 brothers in uniform on the flight in addition to the rest of the family. Very humbling indeed.

I saw that movie “Taking Chance” and it sent chills down my spine.
And that scene with the TSA Nazi pissed me off to no end.
