Passengers in the airport must have been worried when they saw our plane pull into gate 69A, as we had a full police and fire escort, front and back. I was on the left side of the plane and later realized that the family could be seen off to the right, standing with the United States Army Honor Guard....
When the jet door opened, another military officer addressed the escort who was standing at attention. He then stepped on the plane and told us passengers I just addressed the escort. Its a sworn oath to bring home the family of the fallen. He paused and then said, Today you all did that, you are all escorts, escorts of the heart. And then thanked us for our time and walked off the plane.

Damned blurry monitor; where’s the Windex and paper towels? (((SALUTE)))
United States Army Honor Guard....
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
I don’t want to ruin a good story, or disrespect anyone involved and unless a whole lot has changed recently, the escorts shown sure look like USMC, not Army.
Now I am not going to say they don’t have Joint Service representation upon arrival but with the USMC Bearers the Honor Guard was probably USMC also.
A small city in the Midwest, possibly but am sure LA area has plenty of each branch to render the appropriate honors.
Unless there were more than One Troop being escorted.
“HAND SALUTE”
That photo is not part of this story, poster prob just added as visual.
recently re-watched “Taking Chance”. hell of a movie. If the opportunity arises, watch it. Bring a whole carton of Kleenex.
'but I'll try"
I added the random image b/c the article did not have one provided.
Respecting and recognizing the sacrifice, as we civilians rush mindlessly through our lives.
A similar scenario happened when we landed at BWI from Boston on a SA flight. Sobering.
This one?
Thanks; I’ll rent it.
Here’s video of Delta employees on the ramp at Atlanta unloading a fallen soldier and his effects (this might be the remains of an MIA from another war, I’m not sure). Delta has an honor guard of ramp workers at ATL that perform this ceremony whenever needed.

Guy on the plane is Army.
Looks to be wearing a Green Beret too boot.
that’s it.
The poster already said the picture doesn’t belong with the plane.
I don’t want to start a ‘food fight’ and lose the essence of the article
I am probably(<:) being crotchety etal but when people ‘don’t know’, they shouldn’t act— some of the same people that have ‘no problem’ with this depiction would be having a ‘kitten’ if the story were about 4 puppys and ‘they’ showed 4 kittens— with the ‘supposed justification’ that they were pets anyway...
HAND SALUTE TO ALL THE FALLEN COMRADES
RIP.
Heh. Don’t fret, it’s OK. Really.
Speaking of pictures....when I look at the *faces* of the passengers in the plane windows....they look as if they were blown-up are seem to be out of proportion.
