Ian detested the hippie culture back then as now. He refused to play Woodstock and other festivals because he didn’t want to be around ‘the filthy hippies’. And he’s never worn blue jeans because ‘that’s what hippies wear’. He’s certainly left-leaning in his politics but a sane guy otherwise.
I said he was an icon of the Hippy culture and he was. He was a cult phenomenon.
