I think there are men and women who use it like that. Not sure "outrage" is the right word. I don't think anyone was "outraged" by this woman, except for guys on Reddit- and they should probably be the least concerned, since they'll probably never be on a date. When you set up a date from a site (and not on a site) you never know what you are going to get on the first date- Caveat Emptor.
