The St. Louis Rams, desperate for a quarterback like seemingly half the NFL is these days, called Brett Favre this week, according to ESPN. The franchise wanted to see if Favre would unretire for the umpteenth time and give it one last final shot, after all the other one last final shots.
Seriously. They called Brett Favre.
Favre is 44 years old and currently working as a volunteer offensive coordinator and quarterback coach for the Oak Grove Warriors, a high school team in Mississippi. He spends his spare time jogging and mowing the lawn.
He hasnt played since 2010, when a week after his record 297-regular season game starting streak ended, he went 5-for-7 for 63 yards, one touchdown and one pick in a Minnesota Vikings loss to the Chicago Bears. He was concussed early in the game and replaced by Joe Webb.

Nothing new here. The league has ALYAYS had a dozen teams-at least- with QB issues. At least now virtually every team is committed to a younger , higher round draft pick in the future. They may be sitting on the bench. There are also 3-5 potential stars coming out of college next year. Somebody has to lose and not all losing qb’s are bad. Could be bad coaching/team.
Jeff Garcia is out there looking at Cleveland. 44 years young.
Tebow took a losing team to the play offs and won play off games.
He has no offers.
There’s something wrong with the entire picture.
The NFL is messed up.
Yep, just heard the Cowboys are playing them next year in London.

"Of course in the NFL, theyre all NFL-quality players....Even the Jaguars would beat Alabama by 30 points."
Yes, and I think Bernie Kosar said it best. The physical abilities of most NFL QBs are very close. Even the 3rd string guys. The difference is perception on the field and the speed of their decision making. In other words the guys who become the BEST QBs in the NFL have two things in common. Number one is an offensive line that can give them 3-4 seconds to read the coverages. and the second is the ability to read the coverages in under 2 seconds.
Fair’s fair....If England gets an NFL team, then I want the US to get a Barclay’s Premier League team.
I could easily see that happening soon, with say, New York getting a team.
You have hit the nail on the head. There are some bad QBs in the NFL (Sam Bradford is not one of them) but most of the time when there is a problem it comes down to the line.
It does say a lot that they'd consider begging Farve to unretire before they'd consider Tebow.
There’s only one Alex Smith, and the 49ers brain trust let him go. You never know what is possible, ask the Chiefs.
Problem with that is they like American football, not sure most Americans like european football as much. We like instant gratification and high scoring too much, not to mention tie games................thats just wrong. lol
When Manchester United, Chelsea, etc. play exhibition games here, the games are instant sellouts.
>> “Fran Tarkington is available.” <<
.
Does she know something about quarterbacks? :o)
That’s incredible!
If I was a GM. The first thing I do is find out who the best offensive line coach in the country is.....and I tell him to name his price. Because a coach who knows how to take a rag tag bunch of guys and form them into an effective offensive line would be worth their weight in gold. You have a good offensive line, you are a contender, regardless of what you’ve got at the skill positions.
There is no quarterback problem, they are a dime a dozen . Just ask my Brownies.
You’re right.
Tebow is obviously banned. Persona non grata.
This article belies the excuses that Tebow isn’t good enough.
Last year I read a vegas sportsbook manager comment that that no starting NFL QB is worth more than 3 points if injured. IOW, if any teams backup had to start (on short notice) the line wouldn’t move more than 3 points. I can’t source this as I forget who made that comment.
Quarterback nullum ingenium.
