I dont know if Texas has class football, but it seems to me that Aledo HS needs to play up a class or two.

We do. Trouble is - we don’t have enough classes. We only go as high as 5A. Some states go to 6A. Not sure why Texas (check that - I know why Texas doesn’t) It’s the UIL baloney.
Anyhoo - we have two division within 5A - which further adds to the confusion.
Texas splits 5A. The biggest schools are in one level; the smaller in the other.
I think I heard recently that Texas is considering adding that 6th level.
Massmike ... these classifications are based on school size. Aledo is in 4A and probably pushing the student population limits on that. They are certainly talented enough to play in 5A.
The larger schools can far apart physically and Texas is a large area geographically. Making a pure 6A for district play would cause a lot of travel and potential overnighters for district games. JV district games, which are Thursday nights, would be almost impossible.
Some districts like Allen (population 85k+) have one Super 5A. Others like neighboring Frisco (population 135k+) have I think 5 4A schools. Dallas itself has moved to more 4A schools during the past decade.
I personally like the Frisco model. One kid in Allen gets a shot at starting QB. One valedictorian, one 1st chair trombone, etc. You get the point.
