The long-running game show “Jeopardy” featured an entire category on The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints last night. The category was popular as it was the first one chosen in the round. The “answers” in the category included missionaries, the Tabernacle, Marion Romney, Joseph Smith and Deseret Industries. Every contestant who was asked a question got it right.
Gosh, I hope not. One would hope that someone might chance along to proselytize us otherwise.
Hey, I'm sure LOTS of people -- even conservatives -- could say the same thing about even Hillary Clinton...that she was "head and shoulders" above Prez Zero...
(That hardly requires endorsing Hillary)
Or if Harry Reid ran in 2016...yeah...he, too, could be "head and shoulders" above Prez Zero...might mean he could handle local "dog catcher" ... but hardly qualifies him as THE LEADER of the free world...
I would gladly accept a Mormon as a civic or business leader;
And hey...if Mitt hadn't put Fido his pet on top of his station wagon for a cross-country vacation, I, too, might "gladly accept" him as a candidate for local dog catcher...but frankly, not sure if Fido registered (who needs ID?) if he would vote for Mitt for that role...
(Or just "agnostic" about that aspect of their "faith life"?)

On a warm summer afternoon, passersby in Temple Square speak many languages as they make their pilgrimage to the heart of the conservative religion that numbers nearly 14 million members worldwide. The nearby Salt Lake Tabernacle, home to the internationally renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir, attracts the devout as well as the curious. Seated on a bench in the shadow of majestic granite spires of the Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cameron Saxey makes a confession. After 20 years as an FBI special agent, 14 of those spent chasing white-collar criminals, Saxey is particularly challenged by the insidious nature of affinity fraud that plagues his own church and has caused its hierarchy deep concern. "I would much prefer investigating people in Los Angeles that are not of my faith," says the 42-year-old Saxey, who bears a resemblance to the late actor Christopher Reeve. "It breaks my heart to see the wives and kids of the men and women who are involved in fraud who are going to be going to jail." But he does his job. And there's plenty of work to do. In Utah, fraudsters exploiting a connection to the LDS church and its close-knit families have separated an estimated $1.4 billion from victims in recent years, according to the state's multi-jurisdictional Securities Fraud Task Force, which currently is working more than 100 cases. Despite their high dollar amounts, most of those investigations gain little media attention outside Utah, where FBI Supervisory Special Agent James Malpede notes that affinity fraud is second only to domestic terrorism on the Bureau's list of priorities.

Yes, Mission Prep or at the Missionary Training Center, but it is more lying for the Lord and paperwork than actual intellectual debate.
And many of us have experiences contrary to that. They may appear to be good but reality is vastly different when you are in the middle of it.

Well, a lot of Mormon leaders have indicated that "Kolob" -- mentioned in the Mormon "scripture" "Book of Abraham" ... is actually a star... and that the planet of which ye speak of is a planet closest to the "star" of "Kolob"...
So Q might better read:
"What is the planet closest to the alleged star of 'Kolob'"

Personal experience? I got my daughters back, but it was a real battle.

They appear to be, that is correct.
mormonism requires they work for their salvation, it’s part of their persona.
As a side note, they are not always what they appear to be and that is my personal experience since 1962.
As far as the civic leader issue, with very rare exceptions mormons do not elect conservatives.
