MS isn’t the only software that changed for the sake of change.
Newer might be okay, except when the developers remove features or alter the functionality.
Over the years, I have dumped many a software program because the upgrade deleted some specialized features I specifically used that program for. Many of those same companies eventually went out of business.

Yes, I know. The same problem has haunted me, too. That is why I keep older install versions of software.
