"The Walking Dead" is now, by some ratings measures, the No. 1 show on TV. Sunday's season 4 premiere of AMC's zombie drama chowed down on 16.1 million total viewers, according to Nielsen. That's a record for the series, of course, as well as a remarkable 48% boost from last year's season 3 rollout. It also puts "Walking Dead" in the rarefied company of TV's most-watched shows. "NCIS," currently the No. 1 show on TV, averages around 20 million viewers for new episodes...... "

'More important is the performance of "Walking Dead" among young adults, the audience most TV executives are seeking. An average of 10.4 million viewers 18 to 49 years old watched the Sunday premiere. That is a huge number that easily surpasses anything on broadcast.

In fact, during premiere week, the No. 1 show among 18 to 49 was CBS' sitcom "The Big Bang Theory," which drew 9.8 million in that demographic -- and that was after a week's worth of delayed viewing was thrown in. "

That is a remarkable number considering that there are still a good number of Americans who don’t have cable or satellite TV. I heard someone mention on a news outlet that it even outdrew the Cowboys/Redskins game last Sunday night.

Still trying to get my head around this... Is America going to the zombies? Sorry, just really trying to understand why this is a top rated show. Is this show rated only by the 12-18 age group?

I think that is a reflection of the angst among viewers about the state of America. (Confession: I’m in the geriatric group but I am also a fan.)

There have been many zombie movies that didn’t do well at all, but this is more than a zombie show. It has very good story lines, and each episode keeps you dangling so you can’t wait to see the next one.

Back in the late 50’s and early sixties, a lot of movies reflected the fears about radiation and space travel.

The Walking Dead is no different.

The zombies, brainless and bloodsucking are democrats. Rick and his group are Conservatives just trying to defend themselves, while dealing with the RINOS within their ranks.

Think about it.

Tell me Dale and Andrea were not RINOS..

Yes, I’m a fan, just having fun with you.

Dale was a moderate. Andrea was a full-on liberal.

Tough call.

Remember when dale kept Andreas gun away from her? Pretty lib to me. But, he did have a (for lack of a better word) pure conscience. So, I guess I can agree he was a moderate. Or at least an independent.

Dale was perhaps a libertarian (small “L”).

That’s fur sure. “Reality” tv and yet another sing-off singalong BS?

I just got done this evening re-watching one of what I consider the best TV shows in the history of television. From HBO in it’s heyday.

Six Feet Under

The greatest ever ending episode to a series, bar none.

It’s hard to say about Dale. If he was either libertarian or independent, he was certainly leaning to the left of either tag.

That is why I refer to the zombies as “Walking Deadocrats”.

Dale's soft heart killed him, along with stupidity...what the heck was he thinking taking a walk out in that field? Like walkers don't exist or something?

And Andrea, geez! She had her chance to stab evil, but her selfishness, which she disguised as altruism, got others killed along with herself.

So, I agree Andrea was a full fledged liberal. Dale is harder to place.
