The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.'

Happy Sunday everyone, an early start to the thread today.
What’s new? Lots of rain here. Like 6” in a day kind of wet.
Tonight is a fundraising show...and the line up is kind of weak. But, we do have a Suspense albeit early...

Hi, Vision! Fundraising. Fun. :-/
I like the Suspense, and X Minus One is usually pretty cool, too.

I’m surprised to see “Zero Hour” as a standalone. I’ve normally seen, er, heard it paired with “There Will Come Soft Rains” to make up a half hour.
To: Calvin Locke
I thought X Minus One was a half-hour stand-alone show. I'm not familiar with this episode or There Will Come Soft Rains. It looks likes it's a half-hour. I guess it could just be a short one, though, because of the fundraising. They do a lot of talking.

Hey, Vision! We’ve been busting our rears in our own yard today. Got a lot done, cleaned up and mowed and some front beds cleaned out. Keith planted some Aztec grass around the edge of the front beds. Looks good!
He’s got a pork loin soaking in the fridge, and we’re listening to the Saints—New England game on the radio.
What about you? Any news or something delightful on the grill?

The week was good. I actually have tomorrow off and was all ready to enjoy the 10pm hour and they program Biography in Sound. Meh.
Funny, I had a pork loin soaking overnight and put it on the rotisserie today for some friends. Just finished an evening scoot around the neighborhood. All is well.
I am really liking 20th Century radio. Love having two stations to switch back and forth from...

Excellent!
We really like 20th Century radio, too. Keith also found another good music source at Calm Radio. They have a number of formats and a very good big band channel. We got it through the Reciva.com source that we use to program stations on the Grace radio.

Yea, knowing the story, how the news was broken to them makes it intense. He was a great actor; really putting thought and emotion into his performances. He had a genuine, honest warmth. Sigh.

A jealous drunkard. And, the way they’re all saying “he” when talking about whoever hit Chester makes me think it was probably a girl.
That really was a sad Dragnet. It must’ve hit them really hard when Mr. Yarborough died.

Darn! My friend called, and I missed the last half of Gunsmoke and all of Suspense. I’ll catch it later.
Calvin Locke was right. The “X Minus One” was just a fifteen minute episode. The children! The children led by the forces of Hell, just like today...
