I think of it is probably a combo of factors: More players now who were raised not to play that way (can’t walk off the island and so on), more highlight potential (singles don’t get as much press), less rampant ped usage bringing the game back to it’s natural level where it is much harder to hit.
Freegards
Yes, that’s it.
That’s right; 158(?) game season with two, undivided leagues. The best team from each league played each other in a 7 game series to determine the champion of the world, and the whole thing was done by the second week of school.
The last time it was done that way the Detroit Tigers beat the St. Louis Cardinals in six(?).
Creeping age has fogged my memory a little so those numbers quoted may not be correct. Deepest, sincere apologies to those who know better.
Allow me to correct myself: 162 game season and the World Series in fact ran into early October.
Never mind.
Hope so agin the Sox, then 4 straight to the Cards.
Love Clayton Kershaw. The rest of the team... Meh. Lot of good people support the Tigers outside of Detroit.
The Cardinals are a good team, I accept. I am suspicious that damn near the entire team is on Steroids, however. I thought that even before this match-up, to be honest.
GO CARDS!!!
