I'd like to supplement my income by using the internet. I have gone to certain websites to read up or inquire about certain ways to produce income, but most the time, I am overwhelmed by the myriad of choices. There are some work at home sites where the numbers and combinations of choices are literally inexhaustible.
I like to read (and occasionally write) about social issues, some science, some psychology, religion, international commerce as with the EU, particular types of music and visual arts. I have also produced much creative writing. The subjects I just listed may be interesting to me, but likely too specialized to produce any regular flow of work until I establish some sort of brand. To profit from something I have originated, from what could be known as my own Brand or style, could be years in the making, and then only after I have settled on a technique of communication to strengthen and refine. That sounds too much like the life of an artiste, which is notoriously iffy, not what I realistically expect to profit from or even find right away.
I would settle for the boring data entry type online job if I could find a website or a small bunch of website that were known to outsource work to semi-professionals with unremarkable (but adequate) typing skills. I don't have Photoshop experience. I know I need it. I've tried taking computer classes before at evening classes for adults. I usually get so bored I can't stand being in the class for another nanosecond. I wait for the next coffee break, go straight to my car and drive off the school parking lot. I drive off, happy that as an adult, I can go if I damn well want to go. Still I do need to update my skills. My math needs sharpening as well. I like studying science, languages, food matters, behavior modification matters as well. These topics come into play during my work as a mental health caregiver. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Hopefully, I won't be sent to a website with bucket loads of free spam and cookies for all. I'm sure there's money to be safely made for most any type of person, even me. What has worked for some of you?

Nothing online, sorry to say. I earned my money in the brick and mortar world.
I do understand that there are online role playing games where you can earn rewards through play which you might then be able to sell for real money to other game players, either within the game play itself, or maybe through on-line auction sites like eBay. But you are going to have to research the details on your own.

post a craigslist.org ad offering to write reports or do homework/research
sell your scrap on eBay (and buy new scrap locally such as at estate sales)
Search for foreign goods and offer to sell them in the U.S.
Buy products in bulk, break the cases into smaller boxes, and sell the boxes on Amazon.com
Offer to keep a website, Twitter page, or facebook page current and “engaged” with those who post to it
Offer to sell positive reviews to businesses profiled on Yelp.com (presuming that you actually have a legitimate experience with them)
If you know how to trade profitably, Ebay has always been a reliable way to make money for many people.
Medical transcription/coding, law enforcement transcription, general transcription, typing transcripts for businesses and interviews, call centers.

Match your skills/experience against this list.
Either start out listing gigs at fiverr or move directly to setting up your own site with WordPress (dot org not dot com) that sells your services at a higher price. If you set up your own site, start with accepting payment by PayPal. You can get your own CC merchant account later.
Remember that the market determines what you sell more than personal interests. For example, if you like writing poetry in 17th Century French, there’s probably not enough customers out there to make it worth your time.
Actually, precious metals often sell for more to newbies on eBay than you can get them for on sites like apmex.
Really? Are you trying to get them in trouble with the FTC? Compensated endorsements must be clearly disclosed. The failure to do so is considered a deceptive trade practice.

My sales on eBay and Craigslist have collapsed. People have no money to spend. So, I am 61 years old and for the first time in my life I am on food stamps and it looks as though that is about to collapse along with Social Security.
I do not know what to tell you. Sell your excess clothes? Who knows.
No offense, but you are looking to make money in an area where you admit to having low skills. That doesn’t usually work out well.

I have noticed that about ebay. Recently bought some things with no competition from other bidders, things that formerly would have sparked wild bidding. Odd, but I don't see sellers lowering their prices much. Meanwhile ebay keeps on adding rules, making life more miserable for sellers. Ebay and Paypal fees are over 10 percent now, I don't sell so I couldn't say exactly, and the rules are so favorable to buyers and unfavorable to sellers, bad faith buyers are coming in like locusts. If you read the discussion boards at ebay you could get scared away forever.
Nevertheless...if you have stuff, lee, consider selling it online. If it's heavy stuff, use craigslist too, and seek only local pickup, no shipping.
Occasionally ebay runs a special, offering no listing fees. Watch for that.
Etsy and bonanza are not as well known, but the fees are easier on etsy and there are no fees at all on bonanza until a thing sells. They're not a plantation like ebay, but then, the traffic isn't as great. I would list things in all three but be careful of the fees and try to steer people to etsy and bonanza. Be careful, ebay has plenty of eyes to see what you write and you can't steer buyers elsewhere.
The things you sell...people need lawn mowers, toys. These things sell briskly. If you have gold, that's pretty reliable, but do not under any circumstances sell to buyers outside the US.
Any valuable stuff you have, someone somewhere wants.
Cars and real estate can be sold on ebay with much less hassle about the usual rules.
I have sold cars and real estate when needed, but not lately. I live on very little income, yet I don't need to raise it.
Which brings me to the best recommendation. Cut your expenses. I'm quite comfortable with less than 10k/year. I have no mortgage, no debt, no income tax to file. No cable, no restaurants, no theater, no vacations, no commuting to work, no new clothes.
Don't go to sites that say "make money online." Don't rent out your garage or anything else.
If you're in a city or someplace with high property tax, get out of there.
Offer tutoring services or sign up to teach a night class in something.
I trust you don't smoke. If you do...quit burning a hundred dollars every month!
Ask your agent how much insurance is legally mandatory. With a high deductible and a good record you can get insurance for very little. I pay around 15/month.
Learn photoshop. It's not hard.
Can you sew, knit, or crochet?
Hire yourself out to run errands for seniors.
Cut more expenses! :)
