Monday, October 25, 20105 Best Countries to Escape America's Decline Activist Post

Okay, you're upset with the direction America is headed and you've been thinking of moving to another country. Perhaps you feel exhaustively cynical about the political, economic, or social situation in the U.S. and think it is beyond repair. You wouldn't be alone. Many top economists and other trend forecasters are now openly predicting that a total economic, environmental, and social collapse may be imminent in America.

You are right. In four years, I have yet to see a Muzie.
I would be more worried if I were living in Detroit, haha
The Philippine Muzies are all stuck in the west of Mindanao, far from me. Obambies bros, reproducing like rabbits in the US, would be a far bigger problem for most everyone back in the states.

” The Phillipines is now one of the best values in the world for American retirees but it’s also very far away and hard to get to. “

Yes it is the best value. My wife, son, and I live quite nicely on far less then $1000 per month. That is on a beach in the very best part of town. We have all of the conveniences that we would have anywhere else. There is no need for a car here, and few expats have one.
Hard to get to? While it is very far from the US, there is no problem finding flights to Cebu or Manila. From Europe it is even easier and faster.

If you think Deb is a jerk, you should meet my FR fan club, a group of five that hate my guts, and show it with very childish post, filled with filthy expletives, I guess because I do not feel their pain.
As I point out, I did not leave America, America left me.

I’d love to hear Spanish spoken with a Chinese accent.

I’m familiar with Honduras. Many positives.

However, like Costa Rica and Ecuador, there’s an underlying left-wing socialist sentiment that I’m concerned could be taken advantage of at some point by a Hugo Chavez-wannabe. Actually, this sentiment is prevalent throughout Latin America but weakest in Panama.

“I have heard nothing but good things about Boquete.”

Posting this from a cafe (Cafe & Cacao) in Boquete. It’s beautiful. Sunny right now, surrounded by mountains, about 70 degrees and a slight breeze. Think Switzerland without the snow.

Will get a little rain this afternoon/evening but that’s expected in “rainy” season.

You haven’t figured out yet that Atlas has already shrugged. It started post-9/11 and has turned into a massive exodus by producers since Pres_ent Zero was selected by the looters and moochers.

The U.S.S.A. still has its Dagny Taggarts. We respect your right to be one. You have no right to insist that we join you.

Sell U.T. to some evangelical Christian denomination. The liberals would flee Austin.

Very common in Panama. In fact, laundries here are called “chinos” (not considered racist) because so many are owned by Chinese. New Chinese investors here have an accent, but then I have one when speaking Mandarin so not going to make fun of theirs when speaking English or Spanish.

Many countries won’t allow it.

In Panama, it is cheaper to buy locally than import from the States.

OK, jealous. J E A L O U S.

I'd be there (or somewhere) right NOW. I have a JR in high school. I feel stuck until she graduates and I have some idea of her plans.

I am kinda in a holding pattern.

Can you make a living there? I mean a modest enough living that you aren't draining your savings, etc?

The discussion was in ref to where to go when the US does collapse.

When the US does collapse, do you really believe the situation re: the jihadiscum in the PI will remain static? Seriously?
It hasn’t happened *anywhere* else on the planet where a power vacuum, or even a lessening of power happens where jihadiscum are nearby. Jihad *always* expands into the lowered pressure area. Always.

But you can heat your home cheap

THAT right there is key to living somewhere cold.

I hate the cold. I hate grey. I grew up in upstate NY and had 24 years worth of as much cold and grey as any one person should ever endure.

Anyhow, I live in AZ now. I have lived here for 12 years in total.

Recently I moved to Sweden for two years (very cold) and NC for two years (more temperate). Sweden--the apartment we lived in was very warm. NC--you couldn't get the house warm and I was still paying $700 a month and still freezing my butt off much of the time. I was so miserable. Yet, I was happier in the colder climate where I could, at least, keep my abode warm.

Another great thing to do to help make peace with winter is to get outside and do something like cross country ski. It's invigorating, warm (you sweat when it's 10° out), the outdoors is beautiful. When you get in to a fire and a warm home, there's nothing better.

With the fracking revolution, they are in great shape there. If I had to go somewhere else other than here, I would choose to go there. If I had a young family, had any kind of ambition, I'd pick up and go in a heartbeat.
