Yes—but it would’ve been the case that the moose would have bit my wife!

Actually, I’m from Oregon, but I’ve been in Ontario at the northern edge of cottage country/southern edge of the near north for about 14 years. I’ve probably seen more than six—especially from a distance. They are common enough around here that it isn’t a big deal. Now elk are much rarer around here—elk and moose tend not to co-exist.

It is moronic because it is worth far more alive than dead.

might as well be a meal and trophy.

Trophy, for sure. But moose really does taste terrible. And it's tough as shoe leather.

Dork.

They had a tag and made a clean kill. The guy quoted at your link cracks me up, too: "...the importance that this and other white animals played in our lives. We are not to harm them in any way, shape, or form because they could be one of our ancestors coming to remind us of something significant that's going to happen within our communities."

His ancestors dress up as a white moose? Give me a break.

If the people of Nova Scotia want to ban the harvest of albino animals, they can do that. Until then, bring on the albino moose burger. It can't taste worse than any other moose.

We got them little Peccary’s all over the place and I occasionally get some jerky from a friend.

Delish.

So you are for letting animals breed at will, overpopulate, and die of starvation. This is the sure result of your efforts to “regulate” hunting, code for banning. Have you even bothered to look at deer that have overpopulated an area. They look like scarecrows and die by the thousands during the winter. Yet you believe that this is a better fate than population control through hunting.

You are also aware of course that the money used to manage these herds comes from the hunters you demonize and ridicule. When was the last time you spent hundreds of dollars per year to support the animals you want your children to be able to see? Or are you just willing to do it with other peoples money?

For a bit, I thought someone cross linked FR with PETA.....

I am amazed at how silly some of our “colleagues in liberty” think. Maybe there is not hope of restored freedom after all.

All of these “white moose believers” may just be the down fall of our republic.

What happened to the idea of letting people do what they want, within the social contract and all?

In the end, there is no such thing as a “social contract”. This is merely a progressive/socialist construct intended to change your behavior under threat of force. What you are actually referring to is personal morality. Those actions that determine your relationships with society. The social contract meme is nothing more than using the threat of deadly force to impose their will on others. A perfect example of this is obamacare.

Chess obviously believes in this meme as he is willing to use force (government regulations) to “protect the animals”.

I’ve had moose from Alaska, Canada and Idaho and all of it was top of the line eating. I have also seen some hunting shows where I would be worried about eating the meat after they got done dragging it around the swamps and mud and sandbars. You can ruin any meat with improper handling.

Excuse me but its good it was killed before it bred and procreated it’s defective genes. Had the harvester not killed it it would have stuck out like a sore thumb for any other preditor.

Please keep playing chess. Let the men harvest the game for sport and food.

You line of thinking, in the end, would lead to people making many Moose-steaks, and might be thought of as a moose-steaken policy measure.

My bad. Additional moose-steaks would be a culinary catastrophe.
