Exactly. The poor are already covered under Medicaid, and the healthy young and self-employed already had such high-deductible options available, if they were ready to fork out a few bucks.
The uninsurable essentially become wards of state if you give them insurance now, so yes—their assets and income should be tapped heavily. That could be handled perfectly well at the state level.
We’ve now got billions and billions and billions in new bureaucracy, going to the politically connected (wouldn’t you just love to know the lobbyists for that Canadian IT firm?), and corruption of the insurance and healthcare sectors under a form of corporate fascism. All while waiting for this one-seventh of our economy to be fully nationalized.
Based on conversation I have has over the years I suspect that the average Obamacare supporter believes the following:
1. Obamacare will be free.
2. Obamacare will increase access to healthcare.
3. Obamacare will increase medical research and advancement.
4. Obamacare will punish insurance companies for their evil ways.
I especially like reading stories from libs when they are suddenly struck with the truth that they were duped.
I have been screaming this...nobody seems to stop and look at the difference.
