Adobe announced Thursday that it was the victim of a hack and that personal data for 2.9 million users were stolen.
The software company, known for Photoshop and other programs, said cyber attackers were able to access user information, including account IDs, encrypted passwords as well as credit and debit card numbers. The hackers were able to erase data of some Adobe users.
The hackers also illegally accessed source codes for numerous Adobe products. That's like stealing the secret formula for Coca-Cola.
The company did not specify which users of its various software programs were hit.
"We deeply regret that this incident occurred," Brad Arkin, Adobe's chief security officer, said in a blog post Thursday. "Were working diligently internally, as well as with external partners and law enforcement, to address the incident."
The company said it has reset the passwords for affected customers and has contacted them with information on how to change their passwords. Adobe also recommends those users change their passwords for other websites.

You mean someone actually paid for Photoshop? ;)
This is a most serious race. And the hackers are winning.
Some folks never learn

They will have fun with Obamacare.
Just wondering.
What companies have the most to gain, if Adobe takes a big hit?
Just wondering. I honestly don’t know.
This sounds somewhat serious though.
PayPal or GTFO
Adobe is reaping the rewards of the captive content market they produced.
Not sure. But, it certainly is another example of a company that cannot keep their data secure. We can laugh at .gov for not being able to secure information, but there is no excuse for this for Adobe.
They (cc co) call me because they have a bot that scans for unusual activity. So they were going after the culprits, I'm not liable. I thought that was good of them to catch that. And changed my card number again.
Lots of students
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer company. Adobe has been in the process of trying to trick their customers into buying subscription software instead of boxed software, while at the same time tricking them into buying unnecessary “cloud” services. Once they get you signed up, they’ll debit your credit card forever, and they make it VERY difficult to cancel these services. For example, while you can sign up for the services online, you have to CALL and speak to a rep in India to cancel. Good luck with that. Any company that conducts business that way is basically a bunch of crooks.
yes,thousands of dollars worth too.
The official answer to anything.
We have happily used Adobe products for over 20 years.
We’ve needed to upgrade for a LONG time, but the cost is an absolute outrage...so we’re still happily chugging along with our 13 year old versions on equally old computers.
Oh goody!
Hackers always win.
That is how the world works.
Let Chuckie write a law. Let it be violated, two, three, many megatimes!
