In the grand scheme of things, what I saw last Friday night during an ESPN college football game was small but it was another incremental chipping away at the America I remember of the 40s and 50s when I was coming of age.

Utah State was playing an away game at San Jose State. What I noticed was an acute accent glyph over the "E" on the field, thus SAN JOSÉ STATE. Maybe they've been doing this for years but it's the first I caught it and, truthfully, I didn't much care for it. To me, it's much the same as having to press "1" for English, something I still don't like one bit.
