The Democratic Party shutdown has gone exactly as it was planned. We all have heard the terms, "budget crisis", GOP (or Tea Party) Shutdown, and House Shutdown.
What is often neglected is the information that this is not a budget fight. there is no Federal Budget. The Obama Administration has made sure of that in setting this thing up. Instead Budgets have been positively avoided for half a decade.
When the Democrats had the Majority, a super majority in both houses, they didn't pass a budget and when they lost the House they didn't turn in a Budget on time and when they finally put if forward, it garnered no votes from their own party it was so lame.
Why is this?
It is all a plan to cripple and bankrupt America, in a cynical manner, keeping keystone socialist policies locked in place. Cloward - Piven or Obama-nomics, it makes no difference what it is called. Make the programs so overloaded that socialism becomes the answer to a disgruntled Gimmiecrat conditioned citizenry.
How does it work? The fabricated crisis of '08 is made the excuse for horrendous spending without taxation to fund it. Then a new healthcare takeover is rammed through taking over a sixth of the economy to lock in a dependency on a new "entitlement." Instead of passing a budget with that great majority they avoid going on record and simply continue the gigantic spending with a "Continuing Resolution" with the Republican having no say until the House is reversed in 2011.
The Ried marxist Senate majority prevents efforts to rein in spending or to have a budget and instead agree only to extensions of the existing spending with Continuing Resolutions, CRs as they are called. When spending cut promises are rammed down their throat they agree to a Sequester with no intent of avoiding its triggering occurrence -- they want damage and pain.
The Democrats understand that the Congressional process is beyond 80% of the electorate to examine in detail. The electorate will instead judge on results and if the results are bad -- THERE MUST BE SOMEONE TO BLAME and that is what the Democrats are counting on.
With a complicate media constantly parroting the leftist talking points they pin the tail on the Donkey -- or in this case the Elephant.
The continuing resolution time bomb is functioning as designed.
We need to explain this process at every chance.
I can’t comment on the truth except to say, Amen!
It is kind of embarrassing to see that now that I have posted this vanity there are a few conservative articles being written today that give this same plain explanation. i had seen none prior to writing it.
Regardless, this is what is happening and we need to trumpet it.
I'M always embarassed when I say something, fully believing I'm right and then someone comes along and plainly lays out 1+1=2 correction ... and I have to apologize.
I'm not saying the Teaparty position is wrong, but I've always thought the timing of the battle may not be right.
I hope the PR war gets better ...
They’ve been planning this media blitz for months, if not years.
What we saw yesterday was the culmination of a huge effort, completely planned and anticipated.
It would appear that - once again, as usual - the Republicans didn’t see it coming, had no plan to reply.
The repeated avoidance of the budget process even with the majority is cleat evidence that this was the plan.
Every problem script requires that it be raised to a crisis level so as to centralize the solution and make those that care the most i the media’s view the custodians of the solution.
Our discussion topic from yesterday, written out plain.
“It would appear that - once again, as usual - the Republicans didnt see it coming, had no plan to reply.”
I agree with you that they didn’t see something coming, but we know for a fact that they saw IT coming!
Simply put, they didn’t care because it’s all about them.
So they did their usual kabuki dance and answered their constituents concerns with fairy tales and show votes.
But no matter what they said, they never really intended to stand up for the Constitution, for Freedom, for Americans.
No, they held hands with evil and helped IT along because they’re all one big happy beltway family.
But their self-serving plans of DC bipartisanship were rudely interrupted, because the thing they didn’t see coming was Sen. Cruz Missile.
Your point about one man with convictions making a big change in the equation is very telling. We each can be that one man in discussions with our fellows around the water cooler.
Definitely agree.
I guess I will add in limited defense of some of the conservative legislators that I have seen them bring up that a budget has not been passed for X years but they peter out on that message as there is no follow up interest by the reporter of commentator. They are “in on it” more than Republican office holders.
Cruz is new and made up his mind to be relentless. Much like Gingrich in the 90s he took the path and will be vilified for it. However, he is so new, he is harder to single out without giving him prominence that the media does not want him to have.
This isn’t going to work the way Democrats think, unless the RINOs can make sure it does.
As I try and point out in my vaity, it is working. The 20% that understand the detail may come down on our side at a 3 to 1 ration but that still only gets us 15% approval. With the other 80% that just look at results of events and outcome, the media sets the tone and we will be lucky to get 25% of them which is 20% of the total. 20% plus 15% is going to give us about 35% support.
The Democrat plan for sabotoge is working.
Maybe it appears to work, but remember, the GOP won the 1995 shutdown. The people know more than either party gives them credit for — which is why they’re trying to control the information flow.
If we won in 95 means we left with getting Clinton on the Republican agenda, then we won. If it means how Newt fared and how the election went in 96, then we lost.
Got welfare reform and a balanced budget — at lest on paper. Gained 2 Senate seats. Held ground in the House. I’d call that a win. Not a big win, but a win.
