No.10 has played down reports of a feud between prime minister David Cameron and Larry the Downing Street cat.
A new book claims that unloved rescue cat Larry is disliked by the Cameron family and is little more than a public relations prop.
Evening Standard columnist Matthew dAncona has caused a stir with the revelations in his new book, In It Together: The Inside Story of the Coalition Government.
But a Downing Street spokesman said: Totally untrue. He is very popular with everyone in the building and we all get on purr-fectly well.
Tensions have been strained between the pair since Larry was re-homed at Number 10 in 2011 by animal charity Battersea Dogs And Cats Home.
The cats initially lackadaisical approach to his mousing duties led to speculation that his days Downing Street could be numbered.
Larry hit the headlines again last October after he was spotted scrapping with George Osbornes cat Freya on the steps of No.10.

Larry smells Cameron the leftist rat and judges him accordingly. Cats know when they're not liked, and act accordingly. Good for them...they're smart and dont’ push themselves on people who don't like them. Cats have special antennae that pick up “signals” that we humans do not.

To add to the confusion....have you noticed how *Larry* looks so much remarkably like *Oscar* the *Death Moggie* from the nursing home in RI?

Cameron also falls short of what all sensible humans demand.
I side with the feline in this feud.

I had a big orange and white Tom cat who was the opposite. He deliberately sought out people who didn’t like him and pestered them until they made friends with him. I remember one time when we were conducting a Campfire girls ceremmonial in my living room. There were 16-20 little girls and their mothers there for the occasion.
“Tigger” strolled in during the most solemn part of the ceremony, circled the room, and then leapt into the lap of the mother wearing a navy blue serge suit, leaving bits of fur all over her.
