... there has been discussion as to how a three-way tie would be determined for the last clubs in: ...
Cleveland would host Tampa Bay to determine one of the wild cards on Monday; the loser of that game would then play at Texas on Tuesday to determine the second wild card.
The two winners would be re-seeded for the wild card game on Wednesday based on season series. Therefore, the Rangers would host the Rays after going 4-3 against them this season, and would be at Cleveland after going 1-5 against them (and Cleveland would be at Tampa Bay).
If two teams tie for the second wild card, home-field would be determined by the season series and (game) played on Monday. Texas would host Tampa Bay, and be at Cleveland should that scenario unfold. (Cleveland would be at Tampa Bay.) The winner would then travel to the No. 1 wild card destination for a game Wednesday.

Maybe the drip?
I watch on TBS and then switch to radio in 5th inning ... think I like Pirates on radio better. Was it exciting or did I just imagine it?
The Reds have been dead in the water lately, I’d have been surprised if they had won.
Pirates fans sure are sure excited. Congrats to them. October in Pitt and it’s the Pirates everyone is thinking about and the Steelers they’re trying not to think about.
The cocaine drip or do you mean the clap?
Tom Verducci, discussing why Chapman was not allowed to pitch last nite.
” ... Cincinnati closer Aroldis Chapman. As the Reds finished the year 0-6, Chapman pitched in just one of those games and affected none of them. He threw only 63 2/3 innings this year and only 48 percent of the batters he faced were hitting in high leverage situations. So in 163 games Cincinnati used its best arm to pitch about 30-something important innings — none of them as their season went down the tubes. Why? Because the Reds have bought into the myth of the great and powerful closer.
Maybe Chapman would not cut it as a starter — even though he was trained that way in Cuba only to have Major League Baseball turn him into the pitching equivalent of a porcelain vase. Maybe it’s too late to return him to rotation, at the risk of turning him into another Joba Chamberlain, Neftali Feliz or Daniel Bard.
But the fact is that Chapman was worthless as Cincinnati’s season petered out. Meanwhile, Reds manager Dusty Baker, one of the true gems of the game, goes home with another postseason loss. “
Dusty, a gem? Okay he’s a piece of amber with a big nasty cockroach encased inside.
Idiotic, when you’re behind and it’s crunch time, why not use your closer instead of a lesser arm?
yuze no understand that they need to save Chapman for important situations and there were none last nite ...
[PS America is bored already. They’ve had enough and are waiting for Browns vs. Bills.]
An exciting blue collar game between 2 teams with next to zero chance of making the playoffs. Personally, I can’t wait.
AL WC game just started, who you got?
I don’t follow CIN, so I didn’t know the complete collapse Chapman had. WOW!!!
The clap.
What I saw was good.
Well...
That sucked. One and done in Tribe-town.
i can say I told ya so.
They needed Jimenez tonite. But they used him up on SUN ...
Condolences, those flat, anticlimactic ends really bite, like air out of a balloon. Should Jimenez have gone on short rest? I say fire Tito, hire Pete.
How ‘bout them Browns? Maybe I’m wrong about them not having a chance, it’s not like Cincy or Baltimore are very good.
Price
Cobb
Liriano
the teams that lined up their starting pitching to win these games ... they were rewarded. The other teams that did not, are out.
Tampa looks very dangerous right now, Boston better beware.
“Should Jimenez have gone on short rest?”
the mistake was havin’ him pitch on SUN. Needed to be limited to 30 pitches SUN. Jimenez was not on the roster on WED. They were back to 25.
this thread is really dead now. Dead.
Guess it’s time for a new one?
BTW I’m gonna kidnap Theo Epstein and force him to hire you to manage the Cubs. Be ready.
I will be watching the Browns tonight on NFL Network and maybe they’ll surprise everyone.
