True that he is on a path to redemption but he needs to make a clear statement and repeat it over weeks that his mistake was being new to Washington and that although it is true that immigration needs reform, it must never be done while the democrats are in power because they will abuse it to their own ends, and because enforcement has been weak no matter which party is in power.
In short, his timing was off and his experience was lacking.
I agree. He (Rubio) somehow thought that he could bring the sides together.
The disgusting irony is that Rubio and Cruz could deliver to the 'pubs what they say that the party needs. That would be the Cuban vote, and it's all legal.
I get the feeling that either (1) the 'pubs don't want responsible voters, they just want cheap labor and/or (2) the ptb are so racist that they see a hispanic vote as one thing instead of trying to appeal to conservative hispanics instead of trying to turn the US into Cuba.

The fact that he can spew this from a public forum, and we hear NOTHING from McConnell or Paul to condemn what he is doing is the “dog that didn’t bark”. Speaks volumes about the current state of the Repub part...

I think you should read the comment before calling names... this isn't the NYT talking, this is direct from the Kentucky Governor. Last I checked, Kentucky voted to reject ACA in November's election... Why haven't the state's Senators publicly denounce what the governor is doing to their constituents?
I'm suggesting that the reason is the same as the reason why they're not backing Cruz (even tho Paul made a symbolic gesture). I would love to be wrong but the 45 Repub Senators (with 2 exceptions) appear willing to punt back to the House. Just pathetic.

I think the problem is that they all get too used to the D.C. culture... even in the minority, life as a US Senator is pretty damn plush: a huge staff, people always wanting to talk to you, being part of the ruling club, etc.
I like that someone remembered who sent him and didn't acquiesce into being quiet and "waiting his turn". And I think voters in 2016 are going to like that also.

3. The vote to replace the House CR with the Senate Dems' version passed 54 to 44

Appears that the Repubs couldn't hold it together to block on procedure, but have political cover enough to say "I voted against Obamacare". So now up to the House.
Pretty much, the politicians have exempted all government employees from all laws, already.

Paul contacted and succumbed to Potomac Fever more rapidly than any other Republican politician in living memory, although Rubio runs a close second.
