College students who major in physical sciences tend to be smarter than those who major in psychology, judging from the 2013 SAT Report on College & Career Readiness from the College Board.
The report includes data on SAT scores by intended major for the college-bound class of 2013. We've taken the liberty of ranking majors based on these scores, which are the best commonly available proxy for intelligence.

Well, I went from a degree in Music to another one in Computer Science then finally settled on an MBA, so I guess I’m muddled in the middle somewhere.
My son is a college junior studying Chemical Engineering. He left me behind in math sometime in his sophomore year in High School. I wouldn’t last five minutes in whatever math class he is taking this semester.
And it does feel good to have a smart kid. Must have gotten it from Mrs. henkster.
1510 in 1983. 780 verbal, 730 math.
RE: The closer a country/state is to Mexico, the lower it scores, curiously.
Turkey and Greece are not even close to Mexico.
You got me by 20 on the verbal. I managed a 1320. By the way, that SAT score qualified for and was accepted by Mensa for membership. Mensa doesn't even recognize SAT scores since they changed the test, I believe back around 1987, but if your test was before that change they would still recognize it for qualification today.
Take a bow...nice scores.
In the long run, it doesn’t mean much. People with great test scores can be just as foolish as people with low scores.
“People with great test scores can be just as foolish as people with low scores.”
Yeah, a lot of them vote democrat. Nuff said.

Overall, in each occupation area, from top to bottom, the S A T’s seem pretty low. They really are dumbing down the students and the test
This list doesn’t make any sense at all. For example, it shows health professionals ranking below women’s and gender studies. And other professions such as law and architecture are well down the list.
in every category, look how far down the list are the majors of education and public administration (where your local taxes go)
So if you’re undecided, you score better than 70% of your classmates — uhm, ok.
This study is seriously flawed. Interdisciplinary Studies can mean anything. Usually, it means you are trying to get the easiest/fastest degree possible, so I really doubt the accuracy of this table.
Also, someone who is Political Science major at MIT probably has better SAT scores then a Computer Information Systems major at the University of Phoenix. This table does not take into account the institutions from which the scores were obtained.
Just my 2 centavos FWIW.
I chose the fastest degree after spending too much time working on it (life happens). Working in tech, some of the smartest I worked with had liberal arts degrees (including a brilliant philosopher software guy). Too many engineers I know are not half as smart as they find themselves to be- they definitely lack critical thinking skills.
These scores seem quite low...
These sort of assessments are never fair to the US... primarily because we educate everyone till their 18. Most of the kids graduating at 18 in other countries are the cream of the crop. The non academic kids leave school at 16, and go on to study a trade or apprentice themselves somewhere.
