Hope you don’t have any big issues, my Mother recently hit the “Donut Hole”(you gotta love the term) and her heart meds jumped up to $1600 for three months, and that’s just one medication she needs. She and my Dad scrimped and save all their lives to leave something to their children, we all told them spend it all and live a happy retirement, but she will need every penny just to survive.

If you have any children or grandchildren that are teachable, Drum into their heads that there is always plenty of free cheese in the mousetrap. All it costs is your life.

Just a side note to your post....there is nothing in scripture where God speaks of us retiring in the way man has designed it. Retirement is a man made idea.

He says we are to occupy til he comes....be as active as we can be in His work and life.

I have noted as I age thru life that there are indeed ‘seasons’ we go through...no matter what age you are at... How we see the world changes in what is valuable and what is not.... Material things seem less important and we are satisfied with far less then we certainly thought the ten years prior of those seasons.

I enjoy the different seasons be it in want or plenty and all in between....for we learn and are being prepared for what God has in store for us on the other side of this life.

My wife (not on SS) and I are on Kaiser. I have some sort of cheaper medicare thing with them than she has. They sent us some stuff about our plan that showed essentially no change in what we pay. We rejected any of the offered alternates associated with Obunga.

Coverage works for us and is affordable with SS and savings.

I wish I could rely on them not changing things ... but I’m skeptical.

REPEAT - This is by design - IMHO someday in the not too distant future (after all the IRA and 401K have lost their tax deferred status) - this socialists wealth distribution will have driven the middle class to extinction, and EVERYONE still here will be dependent on uncle Sam.

Actually the VA where I live is very good. Right across the street is a level one trauma center. I have had no issues or complaints. Had a heart cath done last year among other thjngs.

I pay for my meds 8.00 for 30 days and 24.00 for 90 days. If I need special testing they send me to another hospital in town and they pay.

I have a gubermit issued VA card that will be accepted at any facility, not thru an independent insurer, all I have to do is register and it is no biggie.
