A medical examiner near Atlanta says former San Diego Chargers safety Paul Oliver has committed suicide.
Cobb County investigators say the 29-year-old Oliver was found dead Tuesday night at his home in Marietta, about 20 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.
Police say Oliver died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Well, the thing to remember is that no one dies laughing... not at least intentionally. So, here’s to being the cynic.
I would say a little of both. Played professionally for 22 years, and have about 4 compositions that need to be put to paper.
He told me he had never seen a suicide who had a smile on their face.
Lemme guess, never had to study in high school or college, probably never cracked a book and found himself needing a real job with no skills, education or experience.

I ask because I find the process of composition generally depressing, but not playing what’s already written. There are a lot of things in life that are tedious, boring, stressful, and downright horrid, but composition is in a category unto itself; as such, I tend to avoid it.

I have found the most helpful “therapy” is getting outside and looking around, shutting down the internal dialogue.

I have no idea. I had never heard of him until this thread.
Self-murder is always sad, especially for those left behind. But it is always murder.
I know exactly how you feel. People who have never had those feelings do not know what it is like.
