Lost in the 1950s Part II [And some 1960s tossed in also]
Lost in the 1950s- The Cherry Bowl Drive In [And record covers from my childhood] ^

Did a little more looking and came up with more 1950s record albums [and some 1960s thrown in, too] that were either owned me, my family or ones that I saw at friends houses or just know of being around. Enjoy!

She was a lot hotter looking on the album my mom had. I think it was Music Music Music. A friend of mom and dads came up one night to see the new album. Not to listen but to check out her cleavage.

Ronnie Dove whose every song was a hit...

Ronnie Dove's Right or Wrong got airplay on LA's 50,000-watt rock blaster KRLA--a great song to hear while cruising Whittier Boulevard on a Friday night.

My Dad was a big fan of ... ... He had a massive collection of their albums and the multi record pre LP 78rpm albums of the Big Bands of the 40s that he sold to a Detroit disc jockey. He hated rock n roll and modern jazz, which of course, I loved. I see an old Dave Brubeck cover. Do you have any Art Blakey, Buddy Collette or Chico Hamilton covers from the 50s?

Well, Otter, my late Father was the real hardcore jazz/classical fan... so don't ask me to go into too much detail on jazz or classical.

However, if you want the dirt on 50s and 60s stand up comedy & TV Series albums... fire away. If it came out in those days, I probably had it or at least listen to it--

You’ve already posted a Steve Allen cover. He was the genius who founded the Tonight Show that was performed live with little or no rehearsal. Steve and his crew ad libed that masterpiece of late night entertainment. I remember him often calling someone from the audience to come on stage to strike three piano keys at random which Steve would instantly make a cord out of and compose a song. Ernie Kovacs followed him and later Jack Parr, Johnny Carson, etc.

You also posted a Stan Freberg cover. My dad thought he and Spike Jones were hilarious. Me, not so much.

Otter

I always noticed that a common pose to show you were a serious ar-teest was with a cigarette in hand. Times change.
