A camera trap set out for endangered Siberian (Amur) tigers in the Russian Far East photographed something far more rare: a golden eagle capturing a young sika deer.

Wow.
My sister lived on the plains of Colorado and she witnessed an eagle take her cat, that seemed possible, this is unbelievable.

And then the eagle flew into a windmill farm and was killed.

Golden Eagles are larger than Bald Eagles.

We have several of each in my general neighborhood (less than 1 mile from my home).

Had a good size black bear in my trash can at 4:00 AM today - did not do any damage. He left a BIG poop in the driveway!

There were no large carnivore tracks in the snow, and it looked like the deer had been running and then just stopped and died.

The snows tell many stories.

I live very close to the Mississippi river. At certain times of the year bald eagles are so common we don't take a second look. If the river freezes over there will still be open water by the locks and they will gather there. I have counted over 80 eagles in one spot. They are quite used to people and will sometimes fly over at 20’ or so. To get an idea of the wing size just think of cutting a 4x8 sheet of plywood in half lengthwise.
