It drives me nuts when Republicans get mad and switch their registration to "Independent" or some other non-winner classification.

You lose your right to make a difference in a primary or special election if your state has closed primaries. Next primary election day, a Tea Party candidate may be running against a RINO serial killer....and if you're in the wrong state, and dumped your GOP registration, you can't vote. This just plays into the enemy's hands. How stupid can Republicans be when they pull this?

Last week we had a district election for a Florida state representative to fill a GOP seat which became empty by a resignation. There were three GOP names on the ballot. I voted for the conservative. Only registered Republicans could vote, no registered Independents, Democrats, Libertarians, Vegetarians, Rotarians....... no one but REGISTERED REPUBLICANS !

I'm happy....the conservative won and is in a good position to beat a looney Democrat woman rival....but his victory was in spite of and with no thanks to disaffected Republicans staying at home, nursing their various grievances against the GOP.

Changing a registration from Republican may make one feel all warm, fuzzy, and cleverly superior, but in this battle for our very survival we only win by outsmarting the enemy.

Stroking one's own ego in the matter of voter registration is just plain self-defeating and pulls us all down into the abyss right along with the disgruntled quitters.

We don’t have closed primaries here in Massachusetts, and I am not a Republican.

Just curious why you are voting FOR the GOP? What exactly have the done to earn your vote?

FRiend, you really have no place to brow beat other conservatives who refuse to vote for the GOP if they refuse to be an opposition party to Democrat policies. I do not support or vote for those who will not vigorously defend my constitutional rights. Right now, the GOP leadership has shown on a number of issues that they have no interest at all in supporting Main Street. However, they will happily stab conservatives in the back and take your plantation vote at the ballot box.
