Skosh
The word skosh comes from the ancient land of Slosh where the people (Boozemen) made all important decisions (with or without ice) over a drink and thus were happy all night but couldn’t remember it the next morning.
Then they joined the Canadian Club, converted to Calvertism and founded Novaskoshland to be free to distill and brew during their three seasons of winter.
(From the soon to be written book, “A Mime is a Terrible Thing When Wasted”.)

My father hates this word! I recall him seeing a Levi's jeans TV ad which mentioned new jeans "with a skosh more room in the leg and seat". The first thing out of his mouth was "WTH is a skosh!? are we now just making up words?". Keep in mind this was in the late 70's and the term was not really heard outside the west coast then. I laughed for days at his reaction, and giggled every time the ad came on.
