The Constitution guarantees the right to free speech, but dont try to pass out copies of it at Modesto Junior College in California. A student at the school who tried to pass out pocket-size pamphlets of the very document that memorializes our rights got shut down on Sept. 17 a date also known as Constitution Day. Campus authorities told Robert Van Tuinen, who caught the whole thing on videotape, he could only pass out the free documents at a tiny designated spot on campus, and only then if he scheduled it several days in advance.
.................
She explains that there is a designated place in front of the student center, in that little cement area, where free expression is allowed, but then notes that two people are already using it. Youd have to wait, she says. You could go on (Sept.) 20th, the 27th or you can go into October.

And only if you stand anywhere... in this general area, right in here.
Anywhere, below the stereo, and on this side of the Bicentennial glasses.
Anywhere between the ashtray, and the thimbles.
Anywhere in this three inches.
Right in here, this area, that includes the area beside the Chiclets, but nowhere near the erasers.
Forty years ago the universities were the hotspots of the so-called ‘Free Speech’ movement and now the same people who fought for Free Speech are now censoring everyone they disagree with.
Why are they doing this on the taxpayer’s dime?
One of the best movies ever scripted!
The text was impervious to Google search.
What movie was that from?
Ah yes. The old “free speech zone”. Sadly enough I saw a sign in downtown Reno that designated a “free speech zone”. Purty frickin’ sad.
The government cannot restrict your right to speech. Many people now get upset when non-government bodies restrict speech. The property owner (such as a junior college) tries to restrict speech, and people start screaming.
I may not like all the end results, but I try to remember which parts of the Constitution limit the government, and which parts allow citizens to make their own choices. My religion is my choice (all the time); my speech is my speech (unless the owner of the property wants me to shut up).
The Jerk.
I took some liberty with a half dozen or so of the words
So they are going to make little Hyde Parks everywhere?
“The Jerk” with Navin Johnson, as the carnival barker who guesses your weight for a prize.
“Forty years ago the universities were the hotspots of the so-called Free Speech movement and now the same people who fought for Free Speech are now censoring everyone they disagree with.”
History has shown us, so many times now, that when the dissenters take control, they allow no dissent.
especially leftists
Walter Williams had a really good column in the newspaper yesterday. He listed many of the recent incidents at various colleges including the one of William Penn at Michigan State that was videoed by one student.
Williams suggested that students should record professorial propaganda and give it widespread distribution over the internet.
Vladimir Lenin said;
“Give me four years to teach the children, and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted”
That’s the goal of the leftist teaching agenda.....
I’d have told them to F off and arrest me then SUE THE CRAP out of them. Call Landmark Legal and let Mark Levin have at them.
Maybe I’m wrong but since a college gets government funds wouldn’t that make it a public place and therefore a ‘free speech’ area?
Your implication is this is a case of a property owner restricting speech. The story doesn't indicate if the junior college is private, so, I googled the name of the college, and it's part of the California Community Colleges System. The property owner is the State of California that's trying (successfully) to restrict speech. I dunno, seems worth screaming about.
Not just a prize! It’s about 15¢ worth of crap! (It’s a profit thing)
Not if they have to allow those icky conservatives
Most junior colleges are government agencies.
