Were you at Berkeley before the time of Mario Savio?

America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi!

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Yes and Yes!

My husband and I graduated and bought our first house about 6 months before Savio hit the streets and the headlines and turned the town upside down. We lasted 5 years before we gathered up our children and moved to get away from all the riots and street marches.

There is a book called “Subversives” that is a pretty accurate depiction of the tumultous era. My only bone to pick with the author is that he paints a too sympathetic picture of Savio. Although, at the time, I considered Savio and his cohorts street thugs, Savio (himself) is really an example of a wasted life. I imagine that drugs had a lot to do with it.
