On Wednesday, Good Day New York spoke with people on the Upper East Side at 72nd St. and Third Ave. who described what they smelled:
Its weird. Ive been here about 50 years off and on and its the first time Ive smelled that. There are other smells but never that.
"Like a slight honeysuckle scent," said another woman.
The smell appeared to be headed south from the Upper East Side all the way to the City Hall area.

I wish it smelled like chocolate here. The farmers are starting to defoliate the cotton and it smells awful.
See what flippin pancakes can do to a guy, turned him into a raging alcoholic.
Actually, it was from a kids TV show in LA circa 1959-'63. The 'Pancake Man' was the host, kind of like Capt. Kangaroo, or Sherriff John.
Wrong. 72nd & 3rd is where I lived for 20 years. Very nice, clean neighborhood.
I share the same feelings about the Andy Griffith Show, although I can still watch Griffith in A Face in the Crowd and appreciate his talent, even though I now know the role of phony down home evil huckster was simple typecasting by Elia Kazan.
“I cant watch that show anymore without thinking what a jerk Andy turned out to be.”
I used to know a guy who worked in the music end of Hollywood. He said Andy G. had the foulest mouth of all the men in the industry. Suzanne Pleshette = foulest mouth of the women. It used to be easy to cover up the shortcomings of celebrities (Rock Hudson, JFK, etc.). Not so much any more, thanks to technology.
A large radiator overflowed antifreeze on a hot engine.

Maple syrup is great in oat meal or steel cut oats...
The city could be fogging for mosquitos, if they are still prevalent in your area.
Today, it smells like vomit around here because the farmers are fertilizing. It’s okay, though, as most of the time it’s heavenly around here.
Up here Maple syrup is selling for 3 bucks a small container.
In Massachusetts same container = 6 bucks
I work in Edison,NJ, still smells like curry.
No no no no no no no
It’s sea salt in oatmeal, nothing sweet.
Absolute or Oleoresin Fenugrec used in the manufacture of Imitation Maple syrup. International Flavors & Fragrances manufacturing is located nearby the area mentioned.

When the kiddies used to gripe about the smell on the way to Des Moines or the Quad Cities, I would gently remind them:
“That, my dearies, is the smell of MONEY”.
If you love bacon, you love that smell.
If you love the milk on your cereal(and the cereal itself) you love that smell.
The rare steak you ate last night, the sweet corn on the cob....you better love that smell.
Could go on and on, but you get my point. People are too far removed from the land, and that is a sad fact.
Some still swear they can smell the molasses on hot days in Boston’s North End, almost 100 years after the Great Molasses Flood.
