I keep trying to load Linux and so far have been unsuccessful on three computers and on clean formatted discs as well as to virtual machines, etc. I get it started, either from online or a disc and at some point it always just stops and refuses to go any further. If my son were closer than Germany, I could probably get it okay. I really would like to put Windows in the past. I do not have a natural bent for computers.

I have never seen anyone have so much trouble even just loading Linux.
Hey Shadow, are there certain computers that won’t run Linux?
Are you trying to install a 64 bit version on a 32 bit machine? or something?

I guess I need more information:
- What distro are you using?
- Is your computer 32-bit (older) or 64-bit?
- what CPU/amount of RAM/disc size is in your computer(s)?
- Are you sure it is not waiting for some input from you to continue?
Let me know (if you want to continue this attempt), and I will try to help.

Just hanging sounds like some kind of a hardware issue...like a hang with a driver for the internet hardware.
Do you have an older laptop?
