  1. What distro are you using?
  2. Is your computer 32-bit (older) or 64-bit?
  3. what CPU/amount of RAM/disc size is in your computer(s)?
  4. Are you sure it is not waiting for some input from you to continue?

I hear good things about Linux MINT
I read that OpenOS4 is friendly for Windows users.

but there are hundreds or thousands of different Linux distributions out there.
