THE WILD SIDE: It's a scramble for the two AL wild-card spots, with a half-dozen teams trying to claim them. Texas, Cleveland and Tampa Bay are at the top, but wobbling.
Pinch-hitter Justin Morneau's single sent Pittsburgh over the Cubs 3-2 Sunday, leaving the Pirates even with St. Louis for the NL Central lead.
WHAT'S THE FORECAST?: Wicked weather always seems to wreak havoc at the end of the season. Cleveland waited out a rain delay of nearly 4 1/2 hours in Chicago before beating the White Sox 7-1 Sunday night. Just watch - somewhere, a storm will sweep into another stadium at the most inopportune time.

Waiting for the Tiger game to start right now.
Looks like Jhonny Peralta will be back in the line up for the last week of the regular season.

"CHARGE!"
It is so nice to see my Indians playing for something in September. Tito has done an incredible job.
A break from football, to watch the grass grow.
?? You start a baseball thread, and then put down baseball?? Football is OK, but baseball has always been my favorite sport.
Nats pulled a miracle, beat Kimbrel today. That Kimbrel is pretty amazing.
FReegards
They set the record last night for most strike outs in a season by an American League team. If they had Dan Uggla and BJ Upton (300+ combines strike outs) from the Braves they would have blown away the MLB record.
Lifelong Cardinal fans. We love baseball, can’t get enough of it, especially at the end of September and October. It is why October is the best month of the year...cooler weather and the playoffs! GO CARDINALS!!
I love Kimbrel but he's the kind of closer that makes managers get old fast. It seems like he's not comfortable until he's got two guys on base.
Baseball beats football any day of the week, at least in my opinion.
Will b watching the Rangers vs Tampa Bay in just a bit. But we like the Tigers too. My husband is from Battle Creek.
I like grass.
The attack from the grass-critics has now been deflected.
Glad to see there’s a baseball caucus on FreeRepublic.
The Tigers have a very favorable regular season ending run. Two more home games against Seattle, 3 home games against the White Sox, then 3 @ Twins and 3 @ Marlins.
Cabrera could have actually won a second triple crown this year if he hadn’t sat out a dozen games or so. He trails in the HR category by around 9.
Excuse me?? Henrickson (Henriksson) is SWEDISH!
Special K did not need to get so many Nats on base to prove his case.
He just didn’t have his ‘stuff’ today. How times did he ask for a new baseball from the umpire?
The Rangers have been sold to a financal group in the Phillipines ... the plan is to move them and rename them the Manilla Folders
This might surprise you but you might be related to the best known Jewish bookmaker and casino director in the world. This morning I was watching the movie "Casino" which was based on the career of Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal although he was named Sam "Ace" Rothstein in the movie. Anyway as is often the case with movies based on fact, I did a bit of research on some of the characters including Rosenthal. He was born in 1929 in Chicago but here comes the really surprising part: He was adopted by a Jewish couple but his biological parents were SWEDISH LUTHERANS.
