They have an amazing history and legacy, and I’ve always been a fan of the Yanks.
As for Arod... well... that situation is what it is.
The Phillies had a rough year too. Shame, because they appeared to have promise early on. Charlie Manuel was a real character; the local talk radio station would have him on every Monday morning. He was a riot to listen to. And he took them to two consecutive World Series trips, one of which was a win, which shuts up all of his critics.
“...I am a New Yorkers in PA...”
Haha! So you know what I mean!!!
I just love the whole baseball-”thing”, if you get my meaning. I never got into the “fan hate” thing that some people do - it’s ridiculous. I’ve seen people punch each other out over wearing the wrong jersey - which is totally stupid and infantile.
Took a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame some years back - the year Mickey Mantle passed away, and shortly after his passing. Boy, was that ever sad... you could FEEL it in the air at Cooperstown. What a wonderful place that is, though...
“The Mick” was one helluva guy. Baseball has always had it’s share of colorful characters, and he certainly fit that bill... guys like Billy Martin, Yogi Berra, Catfish Hunter, Lenny Dykstra, John Kruk, Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams, and many others over the years... they just “made” the game with their antics...
I also loved the home run record chase between McGuire, Sosa, and Griffey Jr... my son was just a little guy at the time, and he loved watching “Mark Ahgwier” as he called him break Maris’ record... 1998 was a great baseball season all around...
It is truly my favorite sport. Hockey right behind it.
Wow, nice memories!!!!
I also love seeing the old games as well. The 50s-60s-early 70s vintage uniforms were neat.
Love the history of it. It’s so Americana... And watch any old movie on Turner Classic Movies, and invariably you’ll see William Bendix pop up somewhere with a reference to “Dem BUMS!!!” - the good old Brooklyn Dodgers...
“Damn Yankees”.... “Angels In The Outfield” .... Gary Cooper in “Pride Of The Yankees”... “It Happens Every Spring” ... and many more - all movies about Baseball. I grew up watching those.
It's only a matter of time before Kairy turns into a puddle of goo. Then we can flush him down the toilet.
impster, cubs and chisox play meaningful baseball tonite.
and all weekend it’s CINN vs PITT, TEX-KC, TB-BAL
who are Oberholtzer & Hellweg ?
an A-Bomb for A-Rod! A grand salami record.
but TB TEX CLE:
TB is only one losing.
Indians game has gone final after 6 1/2 innings. Due to rain.
Indians win.
Chapman just got the Pirates 1-2-3 for the save in the bottom of the 10th.
I’m surprised they called the game. Tampa and Texas and KC can’t be happy about that.
Rangers Suck!
And we go to the 17th in Tampa.
"who are Oberholtzer & Hellweg ?"
A law firm specializing in gay divorces?
Orioles and Rays are still playing in the 17th.
Make it the 18th.
who are Oberholtzer & Hellweg ?” Both done good, altho Oberholtzer took the loss.
Hellickson on for TB ... could mess up rotation. On to the 18th ... will play on Rays Classics channel for years ... with no audience as nobody was there!
I’ve found myself a pirated stream of the game.
Tampa Wins!
Rays win. Ex-Flub David DeJesus is the hero.
Buck Showalter turns into a pumpkin.
Johnson never pitched for BALT
saving him for a save situation
Norris hasn’t pitched in 12 days before tonite’s 54 pitch loss. Coming off an injury?
Hellickson went 40 pitches on TUES .. 41 tonite. Who starts on SUN?
A classic.
And the Cokehead is now a game out of the Wildcard.
