Help!
I have a Blu Ray R/W drive that I added to my HP PC. It also has the original DVD R/W drive.
The other day I ripped a Blu Ray disc and it worked fine.
Today neither drive recognizes that a disc is in it. I have a dvd in each drive and they both come back empty when I look at them in Explorer.
I have W8. The Blu Ray is a LITE-ON Blu Ray 3D Feature IHBS112-04 - OEM. It has been working fine till now.
The DVD is a the original HP install.
I have uninstalled both and rebooted. I have tried to do driver updates.
They both show up in Explorer but both show empty when I try to explore them.
I never hear the drives "spin up" as if they are reading the discs. I hear a faint clicking (not the typical click of death) as if they are trying to work but nothing happens.
Will be going into the BIOS after this post so it may be a bit before I can respond.
Thanks for the help.
W8 has some updates right now. Just before the last click to turn off your PC see if it gives you the choice to “update and restart”. Might do the trick. BTW, I like Win8 too.
It turns out the discs I was putting into my PC are restricted BBC discs. Only to be played on "licensed players" whatever that is. Means I can't watch on my PC.
Thanks to all that helped.
You might be able to put it one a flash drive and boot from that. Will probably require you to select the boot device from the bios startup, often F2.
You forgot to stune the beber.
Did you check for update to the Blu-ray read/write software? It could be the software is a problem. I installed an LG brand Blu-ray sata drive in my Win 7 computer a couple of weeks ago, and it took a while to find compatible software. I finally found this package from Cyberlink and it works fine. It say it works with Win 8 too.
I looked into Blue Ray burners awhile back; the reviews were so lousy I opted to just eventually get a standalone player when they’re on sale and skip BR burning altogether.
Your problem was one of the failures I read about. Sad, but true. No idea why the QC on the 5 1/4” drives is so crappy...
(note: I’m going ‘htpc’ and ripping to HD)
Change your regional settings to R2
