I really have fond memories of that stadium, especially the comfort of watching baseball in Houston in 71 degree weather, beer in hand in a seat that set me back $2.50. (1966)

The Astrodome was somewhat of an improvement over Colt .45 Stadium, was it not?

I can't say I missed the mosquitos...

Yep, I would say that watching baseball without the mosquitoes and the oppressive summer heat near Beautiful Buffalo Bayou was a definite improvement.

The baseball was not always top notch, but there were moments: their catcher, John Bateman (IIRC)was built like an NFL nose tackle. A timeout was called one evening so that he could return to the dugout and change his pants after splitting them in a rather embarrassing play.
