Time Warner Cable will let you drop your television service, while just keeping your internet service. We're making the transition to internet streaming television this week. Gonna save about $60 a month.
I dropped cable a few weeks ago. I had AT&T and still use them for Internet. It takes getting used to, but I can’t afford to pay all that money for nothing! With all those channels, there were only two new shows I watched. Everything else was reruns and I can watch them (and Longmire and Major Crimes) online for free!
That’s is exactly what I did. Cancelled all cable but the internet.
A Roku and Netflix are your friends here if you don’t already have a PC you can devote to internet media duty.
Can’t get Time Warner in my neighborhood. Comcast has a monopoly in Texas. I can drop the cable from Comcast and keep the internet....FOR THE SAME PRICE! I’m not sure there is another internet service available in my area.
Just make sure you buy your own cable modem. Here in San Antonio, Time Warner started charging internet-only customers $6 a month for their cable modem. I decided it was ridiculous to pay TW $6/month for an eight-year-old modem, so I bought my own and took theirs back.
They did this with us last December, and the Verizon FIOS guy told us this had happened to a relative of his.
FTWC!
