I’ll take my 6” bbl S&W Model 617 Stainless .22 (10 shots) any day of the week. The beauty of it is that it is a near exact form and fit with my S&W 686. I use it to plink here in the basement while Freeping.....
Terrific for home defense? A .22?!?
It's probably a case of age-induced rose-tinting, but the most enjoyable handgun shooting I can recall were those times I walked along the Des Moines river during years when the water was low, walking - and occasionally wading - all day while plinking with an RG or a solid-frame H&R .22 rimfire revolver. Nope, not all the Rohms were crap... they did make handy objects for hoplophobes to demonize, though.

RÖHM is still around, making what they started out making in 1909 - drill chucks. I have two.
I had an RG at one time. One day, the barrel flew downrange when I fired.

Have one of these “gems” (/sarc) which my wife’s aunt used to own. Gotta love (/sarc) a handgun which appears to be made of pot metal. It makes a good conversation piece or “drop” gun, but it would NOT be the weapon of choice for self-defense based on caliber, quality of manufacture, and/or reliability. You get what you pay for, and this, at an original price of $12.95 is nothing more than CRAP. And as far as design (i.e., the hammer is out of proportion to the frame), ergonomics, fit&finish (why blue it when you can use a can of Rustoleum?) it is also, CRAP. Oh, and I love (/sarc) the Ghetto grips.
Had one of those myself way back in the day. Some kid had brought it with him to CCC camp and given it to my Dad to hold, which he did. The kid took off and Dad ended up with the, er, “gun”. Single-action it wasn’t really all that bad but you had to check the cylinder alignment for every shot. Great gun as long as you didn’t actually have to shoot it.
I had a RG.
It had fixed sights and shot 2 feet right at 30 feet.
Light weight, went bang.
Better than a cell phone to call a cop.
Isn’t that what Hinkley used on Reagan and Brady?
