Tebow turns down non-QB job
Yahoo Sports - Tebow Himself ^ | Eric Edholm

Tim Tebow is an NFL free agent quarterback. Emphasis on the last word.

According to TheMMQB's Peter King, speaking Thursday night on the NBC broadcast, Tebow received an "inquiry" about joining an NFL team at a position other than quarterback. King reports that Tebow declined the request. He also has said no to Canadian football and US Rugby.

I’d love for the bucs to pick him up.

it’d radically help ticket sales, viewership/ tv ratings and it’s not like he could hurt their performance

Well, don’t sell the Bucs short. Their Defense is going to be much improved. I think you guys will like Schiano - and he’s a good man. Revis helps.

But, Tampa does still have questions at the QB spot. It’s interesting. Though I think the Jets brought Tebow here with the idea of selling tickets and it didn’t materialize. But the Jets are another disasterous topic altogether and there were reasons way beyond Tebow as to why that was the case.

Regardless, I’m just thrilled the NFL is back!

Tebow is very well liked in FL, so the tickets would sell.

NY would never see a bump because of a pro-Christian player.

FL is a different story

Agreed. But I think Tebow is popular all over. His jersey sold like crazy here. There was just no “ticket bump”

I do think it’s a bit humorous that some on a conservative website would give Tebow such a hard time for trying to succeed in a career of his choosing. That’s his right. He may not make it, but it’s certainly his right to try and I applaud him for it.

That said, his body of work indicates he needs to be flexible. Look at a guy like Joe Webb, who was wrongly made into a quarterback by the Vikings and is now transitioning to wide receiver. Tebow is blessed with the ability, and the name, to still try to choose his own destiny, but he needs to be smart about it.

Tebow had three issues coming into the league:

1. Accuracy
2. Windup delivery
3. Adjusting to the speed of the game.

If he doesn't improve on all three he will struggle making a roster.

ticket sales are very dependent on the local population

NY is hard left therefore tough to overcome the religious bigotry

(I’m not very religious but even I can see the anti-Christian bigotry of the left)

Guess that’s why he took Denver to the playoffs in his first season. And took ‘em further than Manning did last year.

Manning threw for seven touchdowns last night against last year's Superbowl winner. I don't think anyone in Denver is saying, "Gee, if only we still had Tebow..."

Peyton Manning is getting older; at some point he is going to get hurt and will be forced to retire. At that point there may be many in Denver saying: “Gee, if only we still had Tebow...”

After having watched him basically flunked out from two other teams I highly doubt that anyone in Denver will wish for the return of Tebow. Regardless of who the next starter is.

He could at least try tight end to see if he can stay in the league. The guy who caught two touchdowns last night for the Broncos was a college basketball player.

Who also played tight end at Portland State.

Whenever I encounter somebody blowing smoke up their own butt I point it out to them. It’s what I do, I’m good at it, as a QA engineer it’s even my job. Tebow is blowing smoke. Although not nearly as much smoke as his cultists.

Maybe Tebow can grow a few inches and put on 100 lbs, than he will be just like the guy last night.

Shanahan isn’t going to waste a roster spot on a project like Tebow who couldn’t carry Griffin’s or Kaepernick’s jock.

A question: Is bias and disrespect for committed Christians THAT strong in the NFL that the offensive line would lay down as soon as Tebow is put in to sub for Brady?

In that last game he played with the Pats, it seemed pretty obvious, in that numerous times in the short span he played, the opposing defense waltzed through the offensive line as though a red carpet had been rolled out for them, and Tim was smothered before he could take a stance and cock his passing arm. I recall being highly P.Od watching it unfold. Or shouldn’t I believe my lying eyes?

After all, the boy did pretty well in college....but maybe that’s because Urban Meyer wouldn’t have put up with that from his offensive line; while it probably wouldn’t be beneath Bill “Let’s steal everybody’s signals” Bellichick(?) to look the other way./Sarc.

If I’m not mistaken, it was Mr. Kraft, the owner who was behind hiring Tebow. But if the heathens, from Bill on down could make Tim LOOK bad enough, he wouldn’t have a prayer. No pun intended.

I’m not sure. I thought it was telling from the start when Sports Radio here said the Pats hadn’t carried 3 QB’s on the roster in something like 12 years. So Tebow was #3. I guess he didn’t break the trend.

By the time he got in he probably had second and third stringers in front of him. And maybe he’s confusing them with bad audibles. Lots of guys do pretty well in college and fail miserably in the pros, most Heisman winners are complete busts in the NFL, Tebow gets to join the likes of Troy Smith, Matt Leinart and Chris Weinke. What it takes to be great in the NFL and college are vastly different.
