Surprised it hasn’t happened already.

I view both Boston Red Soxs and the LA Dodgers as the most imporved MLB teams of the year. The big trade did both teams well.

I think the Dodger fans missed hearing Mr. Scully’s voice do the broadcasting. He is a legend.

“The big trade did both teams well.”
Agreed, getting Gonzalez, Crawford, and Punto helped the Dodgers tremendously this year. In the longer run, the Red Sox will have the advantage as they got younger players and freed up money to get older players.

For many in L.A., Scully IS the Dodgers. He still sounds great and he’s back calling their home games now, too.

Can’t believe you forgot to mention Yasiel Puig.

Compare and contrast.
Vin Scully. A throwback to the great days of broadcasting with legends like Ernie Harwell, Milo Hamilton, Bob Prince, Red Barber, Mel Allen, Herb Carneal, Harry Caray, Jack Buck, and even Dick Enberg.
Who is the type of broadcaster we think of now in the next wave? Gus Johnson.
I weep for broadcasting.

My post referred to the Dodger-Red Sox trade, which Puig was not part of.

Kirk Gibson had a little help with that at bat from a (mostly) unsung scout:
Mel Didier was a scout for the Dodgers during the 1988 World Series and knew the tendencies of the opposing pitchers so well that before the game he told Kirk Gibson exactly what kind of pitch Dennis Eckersley would throw in that situation
