Word For The Day, September 3, 2013
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
inauspicious [in-aw-spish-uhs]
-adj
not auspicious; boding ill; ill-omened; unfavorable.
[158595; in-3 + auspicious]
Yes.
It’s not just you.
Why would anyone ever think that s person the age of Taylor Swift, who is an entertainer would have anything of note to say?
She is also one of those country singers whose songs prompt me to change the station...
Aaagh! “A person”...
There is a Twitter account I follow, not real high activity, that is Kim Kierkegaardashian (@KimKierkegaard). It’s a clever mashup of the two.
That might just be simultaneously too high brow and too low brow for me.
Have you caught up yet on Breaking Bad?
I am rounding third and headed for home. I have 5 episodes left from last season to watch on Netflix.
It seems to me like the end of season 4 (”I won”) could have been a series ender. I don’t know when Walter stole Jesse’s special cigarette, but that final reveal made the entire character much darker.
Excuse my French for a moment.
Fuck these people.
The gross dereliction of Americas unique authority in the world, is inexeffeingscusable, in this context.
Britian wint go...Screw them
France wont go Screw them.
We sat idly by while the Hutsis and Tutsis hacked each other to death.
Clintion turned tail and ran from Somalia, then backed the KLA.
These people are unfit to hold positions of leadership.
We have DRONES. We have assassinated scores of AQ leadership.
You know why Assad, is still alive? Our “leaders” fear the next Major Hasan.
Its not you.
Mr.Magoo, makes a shithousenrat, look like Siggy Freud.
I haven’t watched any of “Breaking Bad” or “Sons of Anarchy”, although both look interesting-but a bit darker than I like. I have slavishly watched both seasons of “Longmire” though-which shows the dark side of “good” people, as well-the rabbit trails, plot twists, mysterious goings-on and (rightly) vengeful natures of the main characters keep me interested.
While I hate to endorse Evil...
This is the baddest mf’er since Lucifer took south.
Breaking Bad is amazing. See above.
The most complex devolution of a character I have ever seen.
He gets in, for all the right reasons.
And goes bad with all the wrong actions.
And the wit, of the script is wry, in a way that is undescribable.
Walter....youre gonna want to get your car fixed....
America’s unique authority was totally abandoned by the present regime from day one, with the groveler-in-chief bowing to every despot he met-we have pictures. What, exactly did everyone expect? I’ve lived with the military most of my life, and I’m no dove-but I don’t see any point in wasting any more of our blood and treasure when we haven’t even avenged the deaths of 4 Americans in Benghazi, and won’t even acknowledge that the aforementioned Major Hasan committed an act of terrorism right on a military installation-if there is ass-kicking to be done, let’s start there...
I think Walter is on his 4th or 5th windshield. I wonder if anyone has made a Twitter account for Walt White’s Windshield.
I figured i would give Breaking Bad a shot about a month ago. I was instantly hooked. At first you are amazed at how quickly things can get very complicated. Then you want to root for the guy.
But it changes a person. It gets darker.
But it is clever and at times amusing.
From the sololiquy Mike gives in Half Measure, to the first 5 minutes of full measure kills....
If you wanted to hook someone on the show, that moment,,,lgets them.
The character of the bar owner in Longmire-Henry-has a very dry sense of humor that makes you laugh. He showed himself to be a mean MF’er, too-with an unlimited number of ways-some a bit arcane-to put the hurt put on those who screw with those he cares about-but I like that in a character...
What is that show about and what network is it on?
Then you have the humor of The Fly, which was fun until Walt declares at the end that it is all contaminated. And not talking about the lab.
